  1. I never actually noticed the headstock looking like a can opener but that's handy. Cheers Cuzzie i know you are a big fan and your PM's certainly had a helping hand in what i was looking for. Much appreciated sir. Having already tried them i know i'm gonna love it. Dave
  2. That just sounds disgusting and i'll never buy a bass from you now.
  3. This is the shop pic. Should be delivered next week tho.
  4. Have to say i've listened to a lot of the Sandberg VM4 bass clips and they sound great to me with the pick up blend in centre point. Also noticed that with the Sandberg basses you can fade or blend the pick ups and still hear the changes wheras my Fender PJ it seems to be one or the other pick up or both Dave
  5. That's where i'm heading Sandberg VM4 on order today. My choice was actually a P bass even tho i don't have one of them And my fav bass to play is my Jazz but tonally not as competent as a P bass. IMHO of course. Dave
  6. I married one A guy i know soaks his fingertips in vinegar the day of a gig. Also saves getting vinegar on his after-gig chips i reckon. I used to get similar when i first started playing bass because i played so hard with my plucking fingers and even had blood coming from my finger on one occasion. Turn up the amp and lighten your touch. You may also need to adjust your EQ as a lighter touch with more gain i find has more low end and i usually pull the bass back a little to compensate. I use moisturiser on my finger tips both hands. I have an issue with my index finger on fretting hand due to digging in with certain basses that have higher frets. I occassionally put some Voltarol on my index finger but only if i have any jagging pain. I don't get it with any other fingers and i never get it when playing my Jazz bass. Its usually my PJ with the taller frets. Dave
  7. I did try a few of them a couple of years ago and the necks were really nice even tho they are a little wider than my Jazz bass. At the end of the day i do have other basses with wider necks and i have no real problems changing over. I also have 5 and 6 string basses but the Jazz is my preferred width but its not a deal breaker provided the Sandberg bass is good quality build like the ones i've already tried. They get great reviews from most everyone. Dave
  8. I have a Fender Precision deluxe with the J pick up and i find it a little limited. If i move the blend either way from centre i get one or the other pick up and its not what i would call an even balance plus the EQ is a bit extreme for me too. Oddly enough i find the Fender PJ has no real character compared to my Geddy Jazz. Its just ok and does a reasonable job as a working bass. I just want a better quality working bass that will give me options to use in any style of band i'm playing with. Having tried a VM4 2 years ago when i was buying the Fender PJ i was very impressed with it both tonally and build quality but at the time i wasn't prepared to spend £1400 on the Sandberg and they only had relic'd basses in stock at Guitar Guitar. On hindsight i wish i had gone that bit more and just ordered one in. I've gone for the Sandberg in all white with black chrome and white Scratchplate with Rosewood neck. I was offered the bass at a fantastic price and will hopefully get delivery this week. I've only read positive reviews on the Sandbergs guys and this is first time i've heard anyone getting rid of them for any particular reason. Dave
  9. Nope sorry guys i'm not a fan of the colour plus i just don't like relic'ed basses and those rusting screws would annoy the hell outa me. Looks like the Sandberg might be my way forward. Everyone that's tried one says the necks are excellent. Dave
  10. Unless it appears soon i'm about to pull the trigger on a Sandberg tomorrow.
  11. Aye but when ?
  12. Are you talking about BC classifieds ?
  13. That's quite nice. I'm now looking at Sandberg VM4. Tried Thomann but the blue burst with maple neck is out of stock until July. I'm looking at another all white one with Rosewood neck. They seem to get really good reviews especially the necks and set up. Dave
  14. Thanks Steve. I must have missed that. Sorry. I see someone has started a thread on Limelight already and Ricky 4000 has posted the link after your post. Dave
  15. I've just had a price for a P bass at under £1000 so that's a plus. He has offered to put on a slimmer neck with 38mm nut altho he said it won't be as slim as my Geddy Jazz. I didn't realise that he only does reliced finish tho. Its not something i like. I could accept very light and i mean very light relic finish. I'm waiting on his reply to a couple of questions but i'm thinkng this might be the way to go. Dave
  16. Whereabouts is Limelight based. I got an approx price from Mark but afraid he takes a few days to reply to emails and would rather try before buying from him. If its not too far i would take a drive down as its always worthwhile meeting face to face. Dave
  17. Well what do you think. Don't keep us all in suspenders.
  18. Nah its because i'm famous.............. in my own world. Listened to the full album and its quite simply 1st class. There's something about the vocalist that just draws you in for more. The vocals also sit well forward in the mix so everything she sings is crystal clear. She has a unique voice. The more i listen to the album the more i want to hear the next album. I can see me following this band's progress. This is also one of those albums i'll enjoy playing along with as the bass just sounds so good. Few of my mates have already commented on the album as i copied the album preview link on to my FB page. Wish you every success guys. Well deserved in my opinion. Dave
  19. Album just arrived this morning and having my first listen and so far the first 4 tracks are stupendous. Not overkilled by keyboards yet still retaining the traditional prog feel. Absolutely loving this. Very refreshing take on Prog. Some really nice little bass runs thrown in. Very nice work indeed. Highly recommend this especially Prog fans. You won't be disappointed. Has touches of YES, Rush and few others hiding in there and i'm guessing those were the main influences Well done Dave
  20. When i did a google search yesterday i came across a black Stagemaster for sale somewhere but can't remember where. Black one didn't have the same class look as the one in your pic tho. Found it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202385384336 Dave
  21. Post some pics of your Kramer basses. That would be nice to see them all. Dave
  22. Think it was the XK series that had more of an issue with neck dive. Not heard anything on the DMZ 4001 series tho. Was just listening to Trevor Bolder live using his various Kramer basses around the Conquest album release. He had the DMZ 4000 and also another similar style but with 2 white humbucker style pick ups fitted. No idea what model that was unless a custom version he's asked for. Prefer the 4000 sound he had Dave
  23. What was the diy mod you mentioned ? not heard of that issue Your response is also very positive and makes me want one even more now.
  24. I use the Mesa Mpulse 600 into Mesa PH212 cab so i'm thinking its quite valve sounding but that's a handy thing to keep in mind. Any time i've heard and liked the tone was either thru Ampeg SVT or Hiwatt altho i can't remember what Trevor Bolder was using back then but i would guess it was a valve amp. Dave
  25. From what i've read the range of basses after the DMZ range had neck dive issues and many owners put lead weights inside the control cover stuck to the back of it. A bit like the ones you get to balance alloy wheels. Maybe that's why it felt so heavy. The DMZ 4000 and 4001 range or earlier basses don't appear to have suffered from that problem. Did you buy the TE combo ??? Dave
