  1. Last night with Blockbustarz was in Camelon Juniors FC. First time in this venue and it was full. Small stage so both singers had to stand on floor in front of stage. Like most clubs folks want in early to get "their seat". People coming in 45mins before doors open which hindered us getting set up and doing a proper sound check but all was fine with it. You know you've had a great night when the bar staff shut the bar to get out on the dance floor for Shang-a-Lang near the end. Dancing from the start last night too and floor was relatively busy all night.. Feed back was incredible from so many people including the owner and the team that booked us and want us back again. Club shut the pool room to give us a decent sized changing room plus storage for all the cases and back up gear if required. Used the Sandberg VM4 into Shure wireless, Keeley bassist comp, Handbox WB-100 and Barefaced 212 cab and even tho i was standing close to the bass rig i could clearly hear the bass behind me. The Barefaced cab has surpassed my expectations. Few wee minor mistakes by us but only picked up by us. Mine was Ballroom Blitz where i just could not get that bass part in middle as if my plucking fingers couldn't move fast enough to keep up with drums. Not even a fast song but my head just wasn't working. That was 1st song second set so hopefully i'm fine next gig in 2 weeks. One huge bonus was that i adjusted my garage and put the Harley bike along the back wall allowing me to put the car straight in the garage after the gig and will empty it today. That will be how i do things from now on as it made life so much easier after a gig. Dave
  2. Well done the new singer at her first full gig. We're also seeing numbers down in various venues and owners telling us they've put on free bands but still not busy. At least you guys had a decent audience so that's all good news. Think folks simply don't have the money to go out as much at moment. Dave
  3. Sorry but without pics of the 4 young ladies in underwear then it never happened and you were dreaming while playing as we all do. 😂 Dave
  4. Are the electric shows still a duo rather than a full band ? Just wondering how you create that fuller effect on the songs. I'm guessing some backing tracks ? Have to admit i do love the idea of the acoustic Goth songs. Mandocello sounds fantastic on the songs i've heard you use it. Its just so different from the norm we hear. Dave
  5. Think i prefer the full electric version on this one guys. Its more filling, more happening and seems to fit this particular song better but both great versions. Dave
  6. Didn't realise you were singing it too. That's a whole different ball game. All the best with it and i'm sure you'll get to a point where it just "clicks". Dave
  7. Cannae beat a good Stranglers bass line. I used to play that as my sound check with the punk band every now and again. Dave
  8. Can i ask what Peaches song ? Stranglers ? Did a youtube search and found a few different songs called Peaches. Dave
  9. Sounding good and that Ric sounds very nice. Dave
  10. Think a reminder would be good Daryl. I've probably seen it but cant recall it. Dave
  11. I had to google what it meant. Dave
  12. We occasionally do a Sun afternoon 12-6pm. We make a day of it and bring sandwiches, flasks of coffee, cream cakes of course and take a longish break halfway thru. It allows us to run thru our full repertoire to keep things sharp for any possible eventuality. TBH we generally get thru the songs and finish up around 5-ish but it makes rehearsals a much more relaxed affair if not rushing thru songs etc. Dave
  13. I love it, still laughing. 😂 Dave
  14. So nice guys. Everything about it is sweet from bass tone to electric piano sound to solid drum fills and that vocalist is sublime. Thanks for sharing with us. Dave
  15. Brilliant, apologies for laughing but it was quite funny and no-one was hurt in the process. Can't say i've been there but i think over the years i've been close but not left the house yet when i realised what day it was. 😂 Dave
  16. Yep that's what we do when someone is held up with work. Most rehearsal rooms have fixed times usually 6-9 etc so we just do what we can until everyone is present and accounted for. Even just having a blether is a good laugh with us. Dave
  17. You'll get there Rob. Dave
  18. Was my local 7 nights a week in 80's. Happy days. Dave
  19. Another song i really enjoyed playing was Do Anything You Wanna Do by Eddie & Hot Rods. Dave
  20. Not been in the Cherry Tree since late 80's / early 90's too. Wasn't my fav pub to be honest. I had a few run ins with the locals when i was in my late teens and they tended to frequent it. 😂 Have you tried Girdwoods in Wishaw. Played it a few times with punk band and can be a good night. Dave
  21. Sounds a lot better with the drop D. Lot more depth if your singer can do it. Its a 2 second retune to be honest. Loved playing Tommy Gun but SLF songs were my fav punk songs. We did Alternative Ulster, Gotta Gettaway, At The Edge, Nobody's Hero. We grouped Into Valley, Complete Control and Alternative Ulster at the end of the set. Encores being One Way or Another and Pretty Vacant. I do miss playing the punk songs even tho i was never a punk fan. Just so much energy in the songs. Dave
  22. When i was with the punk band we did Into The Valley by the skids which is drop tuned on the E to D. I start the song so it can't proceed until i'm ready and the next song Alternative Ulster by SLF which has a decent guitar intro and i had plenty of time to tune back up to the E again. To be fair the band usually waited until i gave them the nod before starting the next song. Dave
  23. Wish i had known you were there and would have dropped in for a bit. I usually see the band advertised on their sandwich board outside when i'm sitting in Costa coffee across the road but couldn't quite make out the name on the board. Maybe next time. What's the band name ? Dave
  24. We generally have a mixed age group. Lot of younger ones think the Glam band is just a great fun night and we've had hen nights, women's birthday parties etc at our gigs but always dancing. Think its the style of music. Glam is a dancing kind of music whereas blues tends to have people that enjoy the musicianship more than a dance if that makes sense, until the drink hits, then folks will dance to anything 😂 Dave
  25. Hopefully a speedy recovery and you can get back to normal as soon as possible. I had to google what that was and it sounds very uncomfortable indeed. All the best Dave
