  1. There was a guy into his effects pedals in a big way and i think played as a solo bassist. I cant recall his name tho but he offered a lot of good advice on his pedals. Not seen him comment for a long time ? JTUK & Xiddix i also remember and recall advice and sharing comments with both. Dont recall any worrying or concerning issues with JTUK. He was always helpful as far as i can remember. I tend to take people at their word and if someone tells me they are doing something or know someone i generally just accept it. I can vaguely remember an issue that some people had on BC 5-6 yrs ago but for the life of me i cant recall what it was all about. Must have been important then Dave
  2. I went back to college in my mid 30's too (circa 95). Being an Instrument / electrical engineer i found technology had moved from pneumatics to electronics and programmed systems. I wanted to bring myself back up to date. I was the oldest in the classes but that did seem to give me a bit of respect from the younger guys and the lecturers. I also found college and studying a lot easier at that age than when i was 16-20 and more interested in bands, bikes and shall we say socialising. Have to say it opened some doors for me within the Industrial Gases company i worked for. I really enjoyed my 2 yrs back at college and came out with great results. I would highly recommend being a mature student at college. Dave
  3. I would never have recognised him from that pic Rob. Used to seeing him with a moustache. Dave
  4. Have you put the wrong pic on this one Rob. ?
  5. 3 to learn for next Glam rehearsal and 2 for the Punk rehearsal Lets Get Together Again - Glitter Band Children of the Revolution - T.Rex Lets Stick Together - Bryan Ferry Gotta Get Away - Stiff Little Fingers Working For the Yankee Dollar - The Skids Dave
  6. Liking that one Rob. Sounds relatively "easy" for Jeff Berlin 😂 Dave
  7. Not sure i would even attempt that at one of the punk gigs. Fingerstyle was a push in a punk band and slap would be pushing it a wee bit i reckon. That and the fact i'm not very good at slap. Dave
  8. In the Glam covers band i occasionally use my index finger as a pick. Find it easier than using my thumb for faster parts. Dave
  9. nice fretless tone there. Enjoyed that. Dave
  10. Wont do fretwork or truss rods if tight. Basic set ups i'm fine with. Electrical problems i can usually cope with but on an expensive bass i would probably take to a luthier. Dave
  11. I wasn't sure if both pick ups could be switched into single coil. Can only see 1 switch ? Dave
  12. Tasty. Are the pick ups both switchable split coils on that one. ? Dave
  13. Ooohhh that's nice. Enjoy Dave
  14. Few quids worth of basses there. Dave
  15. or a bonfire I jest of course. It was fashionable in its day Dave
  16. I have nothing more to say to you. BC suspension as far as i'm concerned. OK you were young so maybe that's your excuse. 😂 I think i traded my WAL for a white Ric that i only kept for 3-4mths and traded that for the Fender Jazz i posted earlier in the thread. Dave
  17. That's nice. Dave
  18. Look forward to your thoughts / review. Liking that a lot. Dave
  19. Its kinda funny but i bought a 2nd hand 50's reissue P bass end last year and altho its due to get a decent set up soon there's aomething about it i just like. Butterscotch with maple neck and gold anodised plate. Its not the best bass i've ever had and the neck is wider than i'm used to but i like playing it live. Its simple ........... V & T what can go wrong with that. Once it gets the action sorted and frets levelled i'll use it more. At the moment its the back up bass to my MarloweDK in the punk band. Dave
  20. Its another Tequila Sunrise ................ Dave
  21. Sometimes less is more. I've noticed with quite a few amps that a little change in Gain can make quite a difference if its hovering on the sweet spot. Dave
  22. I remember you telling me that era were pretty good P basses. But why that particular P bass. Was there something about it. You were doing a fair bit of gigging and just curious what made that bass stand out from your others. Dave
  23. WHY oh WHY ??? £200........you should be ashamed of yourself. If for any reason you decide to do it again please let me know beforehand Dave
  24. What P bass is it. @Lozz196 Dave
  25. Vid from Sun nights gig Emergency Exit at The Cave, Paisley Glasgow. 1st time i've played there.
