I don't have a clue. But, personally, if a band tried to play covers as per the original, then I would avoid like the plague. However, If a band took songs apart, put a completely different slant on them, and did them exceptionally well, then I would be interested.
+1 As an 'aside' to the regular covers band, we formed a little splinter group. We take songs apart, rearrange them, change the instrumentation and have no qualms about rewriting portions of the song. It's been a long process and a real gamble, but we're getting repeat bookings and a nice little following now. Audiences like it enough to sing along and dance and it's quite entertaining watching the realisation dawn on their faces as they realise they know the song but can't quite put their finger on it...

I don't think I've seen aftermarket wooden pickup covers. There are a few companies around who make wooden pickups though. Artec make some gorgeous looking ones but I don't know how good they are as pickups!

Nope. I abuse them all equally.
-
Nah, WD40 won't hurt it. It gets mis-sprayed over cable and inside switches all the time.

Wiring Diagram for 2 pickups, 2 vol, no tone

It's a rather odd requirement so it's unlikely you'll find exactly what you're after - although hillbilly deluxe's circuit comes close (passive pups instead of active ones). If you look at the SD diagram you posted earlier you can see where the wires join onto the tone pot - follow them a bit further and you'll see where they join the volume pot. Just leave the tone pot out and connect the wires to their corresponding locations on the first volume pot. -

Only a guess, but perhaps the prices that people are claiming the goods can be sent for are coming from large retail sites who pay a reduced shipping and insurance fee because they're shipping stuff in bulk on a regular basis?
Surely your bass technique has developed to the point whereby your selective hearing mode, compression and clipping removes the extreme white noise from the spouse drone.
Oh the screeches were easy to deal with, it was just the constant rumble in the background that did the damage.
Why on earth are these files so expensive. I needed to open up the slots on my Ryder to accomodate the black nylons I was putting on and used the file on my trusty Leatherman tool,or it might have been the swiss army knife. Any way, these are just files and they sell small files in model shops, radiospares maplins etc,i mean its only a bit of plastic for gods sake so why the mega price?
It's about precision, if you get a full set you can make all of the nut slots the exact size they need to be on a repeated basis.
Cheers mate but bloody hell, they seem pricey! Know of any cheaper ones?
I just bought a single one and used it carefully to make wider slots for that very reason! I had a scout around at the time but the only cheaper ones I could find were on ebay and I avoid that if I can.
Laney RB9 head, 300W minimum 4 ohms. 4x10 cab, 8 ohms + 1x10 cab, 16 ohms. I was going to have the small one facing me as a monitor and the big one facing the audience at a gig I'm doing where the bass isn't going through the PA.
That'll be fine. Only problem I can see is that you might end up drowning the rest of the backline by having the 1x10" facing back at yourself. I'd be more inclined to face it outwards towards the audience and make sure I was standing in front of it.
Christ, I don't think I've ever seen drums being played that badly.
