1. Slap Happy by Beaver Felton. I have it on VHS but dont know If he released it on DVD. Contact Bass central for details or check out youtube for the intro segment. This video always makes me smile when I think about how much wasted time I spent, during my spotty youth watching it instead of learning about music and more usefull bass playing. Beaver has more edge than a broken piss pot but he is a monster player
2. Hey up fella, how ya doing? good luck with the ebs sale,, the last one on here went for £350.00 BTW Howards shop is now closed. another BTW do you still have the tinted red Streamer I put you onto the last time we met in Howards? I think the original owner Mr "Warwickhunt" on here was trying to trace its location. All he best, Mark
3. It would be great to see my old pale moon pal again
4. If its a series 1 Large body then complete ones go for between £1000-1500 If it is a series 2 or 3 smaller body funk groove type models £750-1000. Easy way to tell the diff is Series 1,s approx 20 1/2" at the widest point, no funk groove and the truss rod cover should say "supernatural" only not "Mark King Model" If you take it to JD you will be probably looking towards a grand for a refin relaquer hardwear etc. Series 1 JD,s are the most sought after ones. Best of luck. Regards,Mark
5. The shop has gone but he is still in the game. Howard has decided to work from home. He is still recovering from the heart attack that he had early last year. If you want to get in touch howard is now trading as the "Bass Doctor" you can contact him on 07977 688229 He is doing all the same bass repairs builds etc. If you need to get in touch with Howards right hand man PETE give me a PM as I play in a little trio with him.
6.
I've not seen pics of it finished in Lambo orange yet as he reckons 'it's shy, don't look at me' (doesn't photograph too well) but fingers crossed I'm hoping to see the finished product this Saturday. As you say TOP bloke and very easy to while away the hours with, he's probably forgotten more than most people know (I blame the thinners).
Hows the new band going?
7. Dave Wilson Looks like he,s doing a fantastic Job on your Streamer. Top Luthier and all round great bloke.
8.
Hiya Mark Nice to hear from you - Keeping well I hope!!! Had Bernie put the plate on a couple of years ago to protect the finish under the D & G strings (slapping abuse!) - I think it looks OK meself - and yeah the bass always has sounded great - even compared to other GBs!! Good spot re the scrunchy - have to admit am partial to a bit of the old double thumbing (albeit badly!!!!) - don't think Vic needs to worry too much just yet How's that Fodera of yours doin btw? You still got it? (that was an awesome bass!) Cheers Dave
Hi Dave, no I do not have the Fodera I had to sell it ,still crying my heart out.Probably the best bass i have ever owned. I think a basschatter here called Mokl owns it now.
9. Hey up Dave, nice pair!!! your GB has to be the best sounding one I have played yet ( At thoms when you picked up the black JD) The scratch plate just adds that little bit diff Regards,Mark BTW Scrunchy on the Nut,,,,,, a bit of WOOTEN Maybee ?
10. Hows the U2 lessons coming on I hear you have had an offer from an expert tutor
11.
Allo Fiends! er sorry, Friends! Just to let you all know that E Basses will be officially relaunched at Music Live at the NEC later this week - we are sharing a stand with Vanquish Guitars - I'm helping out on the stand on Friday and Saturday so if you get chance, pop on over! Ian's new basses are excellent - he's really doing a great job! Here's the temporary web site we cobbled together: http://freewebs.com/ebasses Be good to meet up! Nick
. 12.
Just made an ebay purchase today on a Bag End S15-D 1x15 cab. I know these are very common in the States and get great reviews which is why I took the chance...at $299 in mint cond it seemed an OK price. Just wondering if any basschatters are using these or has anyone anything to say about them good or bad...not too much bad since I now own it !!
I used to gig Bag end. a S15-D and a Q10 BX 410 cabs with 2 EBS HD350,s driving one cab each. The 410 was very hifi but lacked a bottom end and I found the 15 flat and honky. I gigged the gear for about 12 months before going onto EBS cabs. I bought the gear from IAN at SMART distribution.I can highly reccomend the company. First class service and great products. BTW I think $299 is more than an OK price. The Bag end 15 new from smart was £750 and the 410 was £1K when new in 2000. Regards,Mark Palmer
13. If you want some Glock here in the uk, then speak to Ian at smart distribution. I bought some Bag End Cabs from him a while back. top guy to deal with. here is Ians home page: www.smart-distribution.co.uk
14. Good luck with the sale. I saw you post this on the Bass Vault. 4K is a good price. Once you have lived with the fodera tone nothing else is the same. If you have never lived with the fodera tone, you have never lived.I agree that 4K for any bass is a obscene amount of money but Fodera tone does work in most bands unlike some high end boutique basses. 3 year waiting periods on custom orders and scarce used examples have pushed prices through the roof.
