  1. I've owned a couple of Fender Mustangs which are pretty close to a Fender P bass sound wise, but the ones I had USA and CIJ both suffered considerable neck-dive which I put down to the standard heavy tuners that you get on most Fender basses. I've now got a Gibson SG short-scale and again, neck-dive is a bit of a problem, and I find the tone very "muddy" compared to my P basses. The other thing I find strange is when I'm playing up the "dusty" end, moving my left arm inwards towards my body just feels so awkward. I'm the wrong side of seventy, I have back and neck problems, plus I have arthritis in my hands, so I do think that changing to short-scale might help.
  2. I have a couple of questions I would like to ask you guys and gals who play, or have played, short-scale basses. I play mainly P basses but I've tried a couple of short-scales in the past and given up after a few weeks because they just don't feel right, they also sound very different, and I also struggle with the neck-dive. So my questions are: 1. How long does it take to adjust to going from long-scale to short-scale? 2. How do you manage the inevitable neck-dive that you usually get with most short-scale basses, would changing the tuners to lightweight tuners make any noticeable difference?

  4. I've been using them for years and they are just as good as the Fender CS pickups imo.
  5. It is an exact fit for a Fender body because I tried it on two of my Fender P basses.
  6. Wenge Jazz Neck £50 Posted. I purchased this neck along with a number of other parts for a couple of projects that never happened, they were fitted but never used. The neck is really nice and feels great, it was fitted with a triple string retainer which I will include. The heel is an exact fit for Fender P and J basses.

  10. I don't use pedals live so I've only ever used this at home, it seems to be ok with my bass but like I say, I've not much experience of using pedals. There are a quite a few videos on YouTube that might give some idea as to what it can do.

  14. Tbh, the clip I uploaded is the best bit, the other 19 minutes of him tuning his guitar is far worse.
  15. In the old days, we probably would have been a successful psychedelic band with this kind of material.🤣
  16. We thought we would add a psychedelic movie to go with the tones that not even Jimi Hendrix could achieve.
  17. I use these in all my P basses, the embedded springs in the form means that they never ever sag, they are by far the best I've used, and for £4 for two, well worth the money.
  18. We auditioned a so called experienced guitarist last week who has played for 50+ years. He turned up and spent a good twenty minutes trying to tune his guitar and he didn't mute it whilst doing so, I always record rehearsals and auditions, and the tone you hear in this clip of him tuning is the tone he used for every song we played regardless of the type of song. He didn't get the gig. Psychedelic Tuning.mov

  20. Cheers Steve, it was a pleasure mate.🙂
  21. Just received an immaculate Gibson SG Bass from Steve, the transaction from start to finish was so pleasant and efficient. Thanks so much Steve, and all the best for the future.🙂
  22. You ask why certain artists/bands are in the Rock n' roll hall of fame, well maybe the answer is in the name, "Hall of Fame". It's not about whether you, me, or anyone else likes the artists/bands who are in there, I'm not particularly into any of the artists/bands you mentioned either, but I know of them because they are famous because their music, so I guess that some of these "famous" artists/bands will make it into the "Hall of Fame".🫢
