1.
Your right there mate. I played on this a couple of weeks ago and the neck is fantastic. If I was a bit more flush I would snap this up now. I would recommend this to anyone its light, plays fantastic and sounds like thunder, you must be mad parting with that one Dave
Ian, I had 11 basses at the start of the week with two more ACGs on the way. As I said earlier, I would FAR rather sell my Lakland Bob Glaub than this one. But the Lakland doesn't feedback on church gigs, so this has gotta go.
  2.
Hummn if I hadnt just bought a Shuker I would snap your hands off.... what is the string spacing at the nut and the total nut width please.... I'm gonna regret asking this.....
Hi Burpster, The string spacing (center of string to center of string) is 9.5mm Overall width of nut, edge to edge is 37/38mm (jazz width, I guess). It was difficult to be entirely accurate in measuring the nut with the strings on but this is very close ballpark. Hope this helps. I haven't so far mentioned that this has 18v electrics, so plenty of headroom; and I have found a ratty old case for it which at least means it can be couriered now. look into the eyes, not around the eyes...

  4.
+1 To that. Shame i don't get on well with 4 Strings. Good luck with the sale Mr S and hows the ACG??????
I haven't had a chance to gig with my ACG yet but rehearsed with it last night. Sounded as you'd expect, bloody great. Thanks for the kind words on the KSD it's a great bass but I owned 11 basses at the start of the week (sold a couple already) and I have another two ACGs on the way, one in a couple of weeks, and another in prep stage; so I just need to make room more than anything. I'm really sad to see these go but I just don't need this many basses and head is ruling heart for once. The reason why this bass is on my sale list is sheer practicality: One of my regular gigs these days is in a gospel band and we play in churches, as you might expect with a gospel outfit. Single coils pups are useless in church gigs because the churches always have the hearing aid induction loop switched on for the old dears with their hearing aids. Single coils and induction loops create instant uncontrolable feedback and there's bugger all you can do about it. I'd rather keep this and sell my Lakland Bob Glaub Precision, if I'm honest. This is the nicer bass to play but the Lakland has a split P pickup which is hum cancelling and the induction loop gets along with it nicely. So this feller got to go...
  5. Bought directly from Bernie Goodfellow (KSD's UK importer), who recommended that he fitted an EBS pre-amp to it before he sent in on to me. Bernie also imports EBS. Good move tonally as the EBS pre is a very tasty bit of kit although it bumped the price up quite a bit. This bass comes with a long gig bag - the lengthy headstocks on these mean that they often won't fit Hiscox style hardcases comfortably - and it's fitted with *fairly* new DR Black Beauty strings, not shown in this pic. Really nice bass in very good condition with few marks and nothing significant to write home about. (or complain about, really) Bargain at £485. REDUCED TO £459 Collection preferred but not essential. Reluctant to accept Paypal, but can be arranged.
  6. PM replied and SOLD pending usual arrangements.
  7. A member of my family has just rung me and given me a serious telling off for not offering this to him before I put it up here. Sold to my nephew, Terence (with visiting rights for me!)
  8. The last time I was introduced and "expected" to do a wee solo (coz everyone else had) I simply did a big "WArrrrrrooooommmm" slide up and down my E string and said, loud enough for the band and the closest audience members to hear "Now f*ck off you sadistic c**ts." As I remained the only person on stage not reduced to gibbering giggles I clearly remained the coolest looking dude on stage. Simple.
  9.
Great basses these and a great price. I had one with only the p pickup, nice slim neck, yes warwicks can have slim necks. If your in the market for a bass of this price really you should check it out.
Yup, ultra slim in fact. You heard the man, check it out! PS Steve, I'm the one who has your old Warmoth Darkstar / Audere SG now. Lovely bass. (See the porn entry from earlier this week)
  10. Nordstrand Big Singles - 5 string, 19mm set. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I bought these in this thread, here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=8526 ...almost exactly a year ago and have never fitted them because, when I reflected upon it, I loved the sound of my Roscoe so much I didn't want to naff about with it. Almost new therefore and in very good condition. Huge bargain at £70 inc p&p.
  11. Is now sold.... A 12 string. Big and heavy. Takes months to restring and you're pensionable age by the time you've tuned it. It's trans black, it's made of Ash; it has a maple neck with a pao ferro board, EMG-hz pups, active three band preamp and a hard case. It also has 12 strings. Except it doesn't, it has 32 strings - the 12 on it, a full spare set of 12 brand new SITs and an additional spare set of the 8 octave strings, again brand new SITs. The strings are £275 and I'll throw in the bass for free. Collection (Liverpool) preferred but not essential; no trades thanks, I'm cutting down.
  12. Following much ACGness I've decided to be rid of a few of my basses. This has: Mahogany body with a bubinga top, EMG-hz pups with an 18v EMG pre amp. But it's sadly lacking in frets, hence reason for sale, as I just don't get on with the fretlessness of it. I need those strips of metal, I'm afraid. Fitted with a maple laminate thru neck. List price currently $969 ( http://www.schecterguitars.com/index.asp - you'll find that in here somewhere). Bargain at £295ono and collection preferred. I'm based in Liverpool. This bass comes with a case that serves it's purpose but won't win any fashion awards. EDIT: NOW £265!
  13. Time to get rid of a few basses after the arrival of my new ACG and the imminent arrival of another ACG five string. Warwick Fortress One. Made 1996. Maple body, wenge neck (not ovangkol) , MEC P & J pups, active two band EQ with a push pull on one of the pots that... (Scoop waves hands in air vaguely) that... does stuff. It's been a trusty servant for many years and probably my main gigging bass since the Great Gibson Grabber Catastrophy of '99. It's not in the greatest cosmetic condition, but frankly that doesn't matter on a working bass like this. On a Fender it's called mojo on a Warwick it's called looks a bit shagged out. It's a real workhorse bass, unburstable, solid as a rock and never lets you down. I'm selling a few basses this week, hopefully, and I suspect I'm going to miss this one the most. Great bass and uber comfy to play. Including a shagged out but serviceable hardcase. Oh by the way: It's not a Rockbass, it's a proper Warwick which, according to the tuners was made in WEST Germany. I suspect they'd had them in the stores for a while. Collection preferred (based in Liverpool). £325ono (no trades thanks)

    ACG Recurve

I nipped up to Bassday yesterday and collected the finished bass from Alan and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. It's stunning. I'll just let you ogle at the pictures, and I'll get a fuller report up when I've spent a little more time with it.
  18.
Well the bottle of Spanish red seems to be empty... Cause, effect? B
Hmmm. I firmly believe that my PC ought to be fitted with a breathalyser which refuses me access to e.bay if I'm over the limit.
  19.
(the SKB is not offered as a '4) .. !!
Just to clarify, as a Roscoe owner and utter fanboy, that statement is wrong. The SKB is available as a four string and always has been but, as Roscoe build to order and very few SKB3000's (4 string model name) have been ordered they are thin on the ground. Two have been built this year (2008) and they are the first SKB3000s since at least 2005. Identical spec LG3000 and SKB3000 are also identical in price, there is no uplift for the SKB shape in Roscoe's pricing structure. The new owner of this has got a "fabulous" instrument. Good luck to him/her.
