    No it's lost

Hopefully if you contact Paypal or your bank and explain what happened, they may be able to do something for you.

I know its already been said countless times before, but please, please don't use Paypal F&F to buy anything on here unless they ARE your friend or family and you know its them.  Insist on normal goods/services paypal, and if the fee is an issue for the seller, offer to pay the extra 3% to cover it (and yourself).  If they still don't agree to use it, and cash on collection isn't an option, run a mile.

Thanks to those who reported the threads and alerted the team, we acted as quickly as we could.  An event like this is VERY rare on Basschat but everyone needs to remain vigilant, especially when it comes to sending money to people you don't know in an insecure way.  And yeah, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.

  2. Another excuse for a snap of this beauty, but I posted a thread others may have missed looking for a high quality case that fits headless basses well, and can confirm that the Mono Vertigo guitar case is a perfect fit for mine.  Expensive but can highly recommend!

And just as yours arrives so does mine! Here is the lefty StingWal...

Gotta say I have to take back what I said about G&B Builds, they did a great job in the end and it plays fantastically.

Still just getting to grips with the dialling in of tones, but here are some quick rough takes of the usual Wal tone examples. Schism is Neck and Bridge, Give It Away is just neck pickup. Running into UAD Softube SVTR and being driven a bit, especially with GIA. No other processing - gonna experiment with my Mesa M3 and maybe some pedals etc in the next week or so.

    Herrick Multicoils

    Lusithand Double NFP Special

Mahogany body with walnut top (and a maple veneer in between)

    Maple neck w/rosewood fingerboard

    Schaller DaVinci machine heads

Sounds nice, something of a mid way point between a Stingray and a Wal tone, modern sounding but has some of that mid character.

I just got one of these (£41 on Amazon).

I have been using a wired IEM system for a little while, simple but it works, although that thick combined instrument/phones cable is not the most comfy. I bought a U4 to give the wireless option a try but ended up selling it unused since, of course, most of my gigs at the moment seem to be those where I need an amplifier.

But for £41, being stereo, I thought it could be useful at home, and that's what I got it for.

It sounds good, no significant noise added (I thought for a minute that there was some hiss but turned out to be my drum machine, so very quiet overall), and the units are tiny and superlight. I'm waiting for a Backbeat (ordered in September, shipping this month, yay!), so with the MS-1 and the Backbeat I hope to have a nice home setup at least.

I have not yet experimented with cummulative latencies, that's for the weekend. Used on its own (using a Zoom R16 as a mixer/recorder, where the drum track is recorded direct, and sent to my ears via the MS-1) it's just fine. I tried adding my ancient Line6 G30 wireless instrument unit to the mix. Not sure what's its latency, but I'm pretty sure it was around 4-5ms. Again, that worked well. But I'm not sure how it'll be once I start adding digital FX etc, this unit is not going to suit everybody but if you use no effects, or a few analog ones it'll probably be okay too.

For a cheap home-use solution they seem quite useful as long as your personal chain does not take the latency to the point it gets noticeable.

Interesting read.  I am thinking of picking up a Lekato MS-1 for live use. Band is struggling along on a basic Gear4music IEM system and the receivers are becoming less and less reliable, so i'm wondering if this is a short term solution to risking silence at a gig, if they will work well enough, before I magic up the money for a proper system.

Try to put the strap the other way round on the upper horn, to the front not the rear, I always found the bass was better balanced this way. 😉

    Nice photo, that said.

I would have agreed with you without trying it as it looks like it would pull the body away from you going under, but I actually found going over knocked the balance a bit off for me. Not sure if its just the strap or the way I wear it, but it was tugging the top horn up too much, much preferred it this way. Wish I could have it the other way, as it would mean I could use the same strap on both basses!

  6. Used Flea does seem your best bet, they sound fantastic and the relicing isn't awful.

Tight budgets its always best to buy used on here or Reverg/eBay (I'd avoid Facebook etc unless you can play them first), most bang for buck and you'll likely lose very little if it isn't for you.

i get that the price point is attractive for a bass with these features

Have to say, at ~£1,500, it shouldn't have any flaws.  I'd have sent it back for the issues you've listed if you paid anything like that.

I agree that I would rather they drop the fancy woods and fancy features than have a bass with a myriad of finishing issues and just build a good bass worthy of the price point.  Dingwall absolutely nailed that whole ideology with the combustion series, though sadly they're becoming far from affordable now.

Thanks @Kev.  Yes, the EHB is about the same.

Can confirm the Vertigo guitar case is a perfect fit for my 105cm headless, highly recommend 👍🏻

Big Splits in the EHB so hum cancelling split coils, most Nord equipped Ibanez have Big Singles or the CND variation of them I think.

I also really like the preamp but maybe it isn't the best fit for the licensed Barts which do have a reputation of being dark, suits the Nords really well though.

AH okay didn't know that, fair enough then!

Perhaps I am also talking of my experience with a different preamp, the one I had (and found transparent, and thus quite revealing of the chinese Bart character) was the one fitted to an SRMS805?

Do you find the BH2 pickups sound better passive? Tbh it might be that the 3EMP3LD preamp is just a bad fit for them as it has no shortage of high end with the Nordstrand equipped EHB, it's not something I feel the need to switch out in fact I cut a lot of highs to get to where I like. Did you try changing the preamp connector from VM3 to BEQ3? That was supposed to boost the treble according to some people, although others said the BEQ3 was muddy like the old MkI preamp so as usual YMMV. There's also a +6db boost connector on that preamp.

I didn't have any issues with the preamp, seemed pretty transparent.  I found the BH2s themselves to be very lacking in high end clarity and deep lows, "woolly", as I think someone put it, describes them well.  They're just not very exciting pickups.  The upgrade I did to real Barts was night and day, and Nordstrand models naturally have a ton more high end, but in fairness they're a different type of Pickup altogether (single coil models in the ibbys, aren't they?)

Can anyone recommend a good gig bag upgrade for the multiscale version?

I've just taken a risk and ordered a Mono Vertigo guitar bag as it should fit my Leduc Headless, which is around 105cm long.  Ill let you know if it fits, but I imagine your ibby will be a similar length?

  12. There are a few bits I don't like.  The contour on the back feels odd, I really don't like how there's an odd space between the bottom of the fretboard and the body on the treble side, but otherwise I like the concept, just not the execution re: specs.

As for so many for sale, typical ibanez really, they make tons of the tons of different types and as such there's a lot around used too.  Nothing unusual I wouldn't say personally.

I’ve always argued, that you can play any genre of music on any model of bass. In theory you can just own a P bass and play anything on it (except fretless obvs) but am I wrong? Do you have to have that Ken Smith 6 for the jazz stuff? Or that Gibson Blackbird for metal? Or that Hofner Beatle bass for your 60s cover band?

I’ve slapped some funk on a Thunderbird when that was the only bass to hand that night…..it wasn’t pretty, but it was ok?

Does one really need more than one bass….. regardless of your choice of material??? Or can one do it all?

    😳

Think the simple answer is any one bass can technically cover any song, just as one shirt can cover any social event, but naturally you may want something better suited to the gig.  You wouldn't wear a hawaiian shirt to a funeral.  You could, it would do the job, but there are other choices that would do a "better" job.

While we're all suspectable to make the odd speling, typo or other inaccuracy - and I understand that for @Baloney Balderdash English may not be the first language - but I find it quite tiresome trying to actually work out what was actually said on posts when they're constantly being edited seconds after they're posted and/or being quoted in responsive posts.

It would be great if the forum worked in such a way that we could go in and look at the pre-doctored amendments to posts.

    Just saying.

Moderator perk, being to be able to see every edit 😉

Rather than bridge pins, it uses a normal Warwick tailpiece.

When you said it, I had visions of you saying it had a regular Warwick 3D bridge 😅 that makes much more sense.

But I am sure it'll appeal to people who are more perfectionists than is for their own good, or are of the misconception that all music should ideally sound as if a machine was playing it, looking at you modern metal people

And you were so close to getting a like from me, before your inaccurate sweeping generalisation.  I embody modern metal and yet agree with everything you say about this 😉
