  1. Need to raise cash so up for sale is this brilliant PSU.

You know what it is, basically the best PSU out there for powering your pedalboard.  Perfect working order, velcro residue on bottom, comes with box and cables.  Also includes 3 x 8800 parallel adapaters for combining output MA to power the Neural DSP Quad Cortex, which is what I mainly used it for!

PSU is around £210 new and the 8800's are about a fiver each, so I think this price is fair.  Pics will be posted a little later on today, but its just a power unit at the end of the day :)

    Cheers

Edit: Withdrawn for now as my alternative solution to using this doesn't work 🙃

For me as well, in the metal scene I was part of at the time, everyone had a Dingwall Combustion going into a Darkglass pedal, and it just got really borinngggg.

As someone still part of such a metal scene, can confirm not a lot has changed in that regard!

Well far east can range from £30 piles of rubbish to Japanese luthiers who make fodera look cheap and nasty so….

Indeed!  Though a Japanese luthier build here would be quite surprising :)

Factory built basses in the Far East are very linear these days, in that the more the big "Western" company pay them, the better the bass is!

You forgot to mention the secret "all buttons pressed=both pickups in series" mode.

    But congratulations. :i-m_so_happy:

These seem, look and sound like cool, super fun and nice basses.

    No he didn't?

I am intrugued by these, are these a Far East jobby or do Nordstand build them?  Assuming the former as they seem very keenly priced!

Wow, can't believe how cheap they used to be. Sounds like that was a 100% cosmetic b-stock and there's nothing wrong with it really, that logo looks fine from the pic.

I'll look at it the other way and be disbelieving about how expensive they are now!  I think I paid £1,100 for a new NG2 in what must have been around 2014/2015, and at the time I thought that was a HUGE amount of money for a Far East instrument. And now they're over £2k...

  6. “…fatter necks actually are better suited for proper playing technique (thumb in the middle of the neck, playing with tip of curved fingers)."

Define fatter?  And what shapes are these necks?  As C/D/V/Asymmetric etc all have very different feels as far as the thumb goes.  Are slimmer necks better suited for certain carves? And how does nut width enter into it?  Take a 6 string bass, how fat are you wanting that neck, as they are usually very flat in comparison to a 4?  As a standalone sentence, your claim here isn't substantiated.

"The distance from the pushing fingers gets smaller to the string and the hand gets a better grip or “strength” thanks to a more solid contact to the actual neck."

I honestly don't know what you're trying to say here to refute it.  If you can reword it I'll have a go!

"Less “air playing” equals less distance, more strength, less movement with the resulting increased control…thin necks are not “faster” or “smoother” or “better” for anyone but someone with REALLY small hands aka: children” "

Again, for me the nut width/width of the neck and the carve shape has a much greater impact on all of this than the depth of the carve.  How "fast" a slim neck feels is entirely subjective to the person and their playing style and technique.  Certainly not just for people with REALLY small hands.

Wow, wtf, how long before Fender renames the American basses as the premium range or similar and prices them at 3k and prices the MIMs at 2k ? I wouldn't be surprised if it happened

Musicman basically did that, I'd still say Musicman basses are of a higher standard than Fender but still, can see it going that way.

. But if one zooms out, surely location on the map is not the main factor?

    Absolutely

Instruments in the Far East in particular are built to a budget and, unlike the West, the quality of the product is almost directly proportionate to the cost in my experience.  If the budget set by the big company is high enough, they will be excellent instruments.  If not, they won't be.  Profit margins are another matter.

I know the exchange rate isn’t great but $1299 is £1087ish Fender have been doing this in UK for a few years now seeing same £ and $ price which is another rip off unless it’s Brexit related import duty

Its just the usual mark up for the non-US markets.  They all do it, its just the norm now.  Its not a Brexit thing though, no different exporting to UK and EU.

  10. Dunlop DVP5 Volume / Expression pedal

Lovely pedal, great that you can use it for expression or volume.  Been sitting alongside my Quad Cortex on my board since purchase but in truth it doesn't get used, mostly used as a place to put my foot for stage poses!  Perfect size for a smaller board, a halfway point between the huge DVP3 and tiny DVP4.

Great condition, a little velcro residue on the bottom but otherwise all good.  Will come boxed.  Shipped via 48h courier included.  Can get better pics if needed. Cheers!

For those who thought bad and silly for my compression discuss - agree and let You think i was wrong and you where right. Now i let some hours at internet to know what compression really does. Yes - I was a big fool, but finally would say that compression is not for me. I hope this will end those attack coments.

Are you talking about live use, or compression in general? And have you ever recorded music, or been recorded?

No? Then what for compression is built? It evens the louder and quiter sound to one volume level (depends on settings). Anyway - compression is more for guitars than basses.

Chat to an audio engineer about how he uses compression for bass and mixes in general, and believe me, he will.  To say you don't need it as you can control it with your fingers is just as the other member put it really, not accurate.

  13. No experience with a bongo, but I did not find the Stingray Special 18v pre to be especially hot.  The 18v is only headroom really, and at extremes of EQ it may be louder.  The Neomydium humbucker is more likely responsible for the clout, but nothing the Scarlett shouldn't be able to handle.
