Traces of Both pedals have been in the DIY community for years.
Theres no legal way to copyright a circuit unless there’s something that is so original and novel that you can patent it.Patents aren’t at all common on circuits as simple and derivative as 99% of analogue guitar pedals.
The only way you could make a ‘blatant rip-off’ is a DemonFX style pedal where you copy the copyrightable trade dress.
By the time a pedal has been out of production for a decade I really don’t see there’s a issue of bringing out a pedal that is a clone or near clone of something and maybe some improvements.
I have more problems with pedal makers using circuits and passing them off as their own amazing work that’s a game changer in guitar/bass playing … and it’s actually a clone of something and no credit is given to the original designer …Oh I only mentioned it as he literally says it's the same circuit, rather than inspired by or developed from etc. Usually cloners aren't quite so blunt!
And that last sentence reminds me of someone...

$699 will likely be something mad like £1,200
And there lies the problem with the higher end SBMM stuff in the UK. Its practically used EBMM money.

That purple looks fantastic! How is that price going to translate into £ as it doesn't seem too bad?

Almost £1k for a 1x10 combo. Does the tolex still peel?

Oooo, I’ve no idea whether any permission was sought. It’s been quite a few years since Chunk Systems ceased production. I’m just glad someone resurrected and - in my opinion - improved on the original design. It is very cool.
A long time since Chunk HQ went silent for sure. I find it interesting though that he still renews the domain/hosting for the chunk website. Well over a decade now since Chunk shut down and its still going.
I agree, the clone does functionally seem like an improvement over using the two pedals for sure. Be interesting if he ever attempts to build something like the Squeezer!

That's cool. I had the Octavius Squeezer which also combined both pedals but used a fairly user unfriendly digital interface. Sounds great in your clips
Ah you get used to it! Oddly I quite enjoy it after nearly a year of it
The clone sounds cool! Is it done with the blessing of Richy Cartwright or just a blatant rip-off?

Beautiful! Dont think I'd part with my Starry Night for anything! Stunning finish and indeed beautiful under stage light.

If they've accepted it as a return and paid a refund there's no issue, they're free to sell it again as B stock.
They won't accept it as a return though, or shouldn't at least, its way outside the return window. If the product isn't faulty, I don't see why Andertons would consider returning and selling as B stock.
The issue is the item is not fit for purpose, which has to fall outside of Anderton's warranty and they can only help by assisting the customer in contacting the manufacturer for resolution, as a gesture of goodwill.
The key thing here seems to be the grey area; is the product "faulty". It doesn't seem to be.

This is not the legal position, as other people have noted. When you buy something from a retailer your contract is with the retailer.Do you have a link to something explaining this?
Outside of the 30 day or similar period with the store, i understood warranties were serviced by the maker of the goods, not the shop from where they were bought? Occasionally stores will offer their own warranty (Thomann do this don't they?) but i have never seen Andertons advertise this.
Edit: Just saw this https://help.andertons.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/360009432120-How-Do-I-Find-Out-About-My-Manufacturer-s-Warranty so Andertons do offer to administer a manufacturer's 12 month warranty. The grey area here is that there is no "fault" with the product, there is an argument instead that it's not fit for purpose. I don't know what the legal position is on this, but I suspect unless Andertons went cavalier with their product information, responsibility will be outside the sales warranty and will be a dispute with the manufacturer.
-
Andertons may well help you try and resolve the problem but this definitely sounds like a manufacturer issue, and your warranty will be with them. All Andertons can really do is offer assistance at their discretion.
I wouldn't consider cancelling your finance agreement or anything like that.

Crazy how cheap these basses can be nabbed for compared to the equal quality NGs/Combustions! Beautiful stuff!

The new updated has an OC-2 and Meatbox model, nice for bass to get some attention. No experience with a Meatbox, but the OC-2 model is bloody good , compares very, very well with the original '82 I have on the board!
Going to expand on the OC-2 comparison a little.
I got the board out this afternoon with a view to seeing if I can actually justify selling the rather £££y OC-2 and just using the QC's model going forward. I use mine with my Chunk synth mostly but I do like it -1 solo'd too.
I decided not to sell.
It IS very good, particularly when used with other effects, but isolated it just doesn't quite nail the rubbery tone, and the mids are a little off and EQ'ing couldn't quite bring it round. I also think they may have slightllllllly overdone the glitching? I feel like it glitches easier, which could be cool but I preferred the pedal's action. If I didn't have the OC-2, I would be perfectly convinced that it sounded identical, there really isn't too much in it. But side by side, I feel i'd miss it.
This is compared to an '82 anyway. I have had later Japanese and Taiwanese models that sound different to mine so YMMV.

Duplicating that 4 times would have been more appropriate.

Have to say I feel the same about this as I do the new - Chinese? - MG cars (I used to own a '72 MGB Roadster) - if the new product bears no relation whatsoever to the old product and what made it uniquely appealing, then why not just call it something else entirely?
Because if they did, this thread probably wouldn't exist and the basses would enter into an extremely congested price point with nothing to make it stand out from the crowd.
I like the champagne finish and don't have a huge issue with the headstock, they're not going to use the old paddle design with a small lightwood body.

Understandably, the marketing of the pedal does nothing to invite people in who want normal! Some may be swayed if they get a video in front of them, but generally I think anyone looking for "standard" stuff wouldn't give it a 2nd glance. Even the filter, using the phrase/terminology "Ladder" doesn't immediately make your average player think its a cool envelope filter pedal, especially when surrounded by things like crush. vinyl and glitch. Its an interesting choice to go so niche in that sense, be interested to know how its doing sale wise compared to other releases.

What problems have you had with Reverb?
EBay is grotesquely unfair to a seller and I thought Reverb was just more balanced. This sounds like a simple NAD case that the seller has refused to compromise on, so how did Reverb handle this?
Sorry to hear of the trouble. If it was me, the bass would be going back as I'd never get over the issues unless it could be restored fully to original spec.

Someone on facebook has just stuck one up for sale at £800 and its getting the response you'd hope it would 😅

£18.50 on the door, £0.95 saving and not funding AXS greed. Works for me.

Is there a way of actually buying a ticket for £16?
It links to AXS on the site and comes to £19.45 with fees, which I absolutely resent paying. Can you pay on the door?

the thing that would be interesting for me would be the possibility to run things in parallel.
Something like a clean channel (nobel capture or some other clean preamp) and blend that with a parallel compression channel and on another lane an saturated amp/cab sound.I like having the natural sound of my bass and blending some more texture/saturation to that. Similar to what i would do in studio situation
probably i need to test a QC and see how it feels playing through it. I’ve only played through the reddi for the last 8 years
Ah okay fair enough, QC it is then!
Its a different world, but once you learn how to use it i'm sure you'll find itll do everything you want, and tons of stuff you didn't think you'd need. I've owned since launch, replaced quite a hefty pedalboard, and no regrets at all.

Hello guys ,
I’m thinking about going from the Reddi to something more portable /better sounding/ and I was thinking about the quad cortex or the nano and a preamp .
Your real world experience would be of great help to me to decide making a rig .
Basic info: I play on a Fodera imperial and sadowsky . Exclusively IEMs . Mostly clean , 10-20% of the time may require a drive. I rarely use modulation fx . Don’t travel much internationally at the moment . The budget may be around 1500
So I want to decide if I go the quad cortex/ nano route or stay analog
These would be the options;
- Quad cortex and that’s it
- I get a analog preamp ( thinking of Jule SImone ) and then into a Nano cortex for amp/cab/more complex capture-
- A Jules Monique rack mount + maybe a Cab sim ( already own a Opus )
Thanks for your ideas!
I guess I'd open with, what is leading you towards to Quad Cortex, given your preference for what sounds like a very straightforward setup?
Gut response is to go Nano, as it doesn't sound like you'll use anything but captures and IRs, but just curious.

SBMM Bongo

Not only that, but buy a used original, the way things are now it'll probably be worth more if you move it on in a few years, whereas a SBMM will get you back half your investment maybe.
I've seen plenty whilst looking at the Musicman used market around the £1400 mark in the last 12 months, the difficulty is more getting one in the finish you want.
I'd expect they'll probably sell well, at least initially, I just wish we didn't get such a bad end of the deal price wise. $699 would be fantastic, even with VAT on top. It wasn't that long ago we used to moan about $=£ and the exchange rate, now that would be a dream!
