I've got three. One fretless Jazz/MM Hybrid and a fretted counterpart, and a P bass in the lounge for noodling at home.

I really like iReal Pro. It’s dead handy for my post-covid brain to take out the reliance on my shocking memory, but it’s also really clunky when making my own charts. Still the best thing I’ve tried.

Hohner b2a or b2b.
They look like a steinberger and have some licence part/design from them.
I had one was surprised how good it was.
And EMG Licensed pickups if memory serves. My first 5 string was a B2V and as has already been stated it was great.

Every home should have one!

There's probably just a resistor (and/or) diode that's blown if you're lucky; it's likely that it's a quick and easy fix.

I'm not too bothered about the bass itself, but I've got to have a Jazz profile neck. Even on my Precision it's a Jazz neck.

A bamboo chopstick is a good tool to tap components, if there's a cold joint.
Also, and perhaps more importantly, it’s non-conductive

25K Linear sounds about right for an active bass, they're typical much lower value than passive instruments.

I've got a Deltalite 2510 mk 1 in my shed - I might have try at putting one of these together...

I had a VT2 custom arrive this morning, it’ll be interesting to play through this model when it’s fixed, as the EQ circuit is passive, so cut only. There is a FAT and a BRIGHT switch though…

my 2 have already been mentioned on here KZS10 and a Behringer BDI-21

I love DHA kit. All of my favourite recordings have been through some of his kit.

Geddy Lee with JPJ in a close second.

My personal favourites are Ler from Primus and Vernon Reid from Living Colour, they don’t feature highly in those kind of lists either.

Really depends on the setlist - if it was disco/funk stuff then I'd plump for an octave and envelope filter, if it was a rock/metal set then I'd plump for an octave and envelope filter

Zoom 607 really old multi effects unit, dead easy to use and cheap as chips. I bought this to do a specific job (pitch shift) which it does, but is really too big to justify its place on my board so I’m moving it on. If you’re in the market for a tuner and volume pedal then it’s worth it just for that.

I used to run my DHA kit with a laptop PSU - high current delivery and centre positive meant that they were perfect. Just make sure that you get one that's got a 2.1mm jack.

For my money this has to be one of the most beautiful songs of the latter half of the 20th Century:
And this one doesn't start like a love song, but it's worth staying with it.

And the best bass sound I've ever had is..... (drum roll)

Probably my fretless Jazz through a DHA VT into an Ampeg SVT classic out to a 6x10”.
Trouser wettingly good.
