Robert Trujillo.  When I say I don't get him, what I mean is that I struggle with the fact that someone whose career includes excellent Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Black Label Society, Jerry Cantrell and Ozzy Osbourne seems to have regressed so much as a player.  I'd say it's even more apparent than Lars Ulrich.  Whenever you see footage of him, he's playing some crappy wah, fuzz drenched 'solo' or smacking seven bells of sh*t out of a custom shop Warwick.  That said, I doubt he'd want to swap places with me.

James Hetfield offering him a million dollars to join Metallica might have something to do with it…

    Has he bought a router??

Looks like he ran the bit too hot when doing the headstock. Oh, burnished you say? Intentionally?

  3. Thing with putting batteries in pedals that are on boards is that they drain current as soon as there is a jack in the input. If you don't unplug the lead from the input jack then it will drain the battery in a matter of hours even though you're not playing through it, whether they're switched on or not.

Having to unplug each individual pedal after a gig kind of negates having a board in the first place.

I've heard of people using USB power cells with a booster to give 9vDC, but haven't used one myself.

  4. A huge departure from the awesome playing in the video above, but this really impressed me as a budding bassist in the 90s.

    Steve Vai - Guitar

    TM Stevens - Bass

    Devin Townsend - Vocal

    Terry Bozzio - Drums

    It's quite the ensemble.

  5. Monster player! I first heard of him when he played on Steve Vai’s ‘sex and religion’ album and he was GREAT on that, but it turns out I’d been listening to him for much longer as a hired gun for loads of other people. A sad loss.

We auditioned a so called experienced guitarist last week who has played for 50+ years.

He turned up and spent a good twenty minutes trying to tune his guitar and he didn't mute it whilst doing so, I always record rehearsals and auditions, and the tone you hear in this clip of him tuning is the tone he used for every song we played regardless of the type of song.

    He didn't get the gig.

Interesting (and very fluid) use of microtones there - do you play much Indian classical music?
