I twisted my back last weekend on a gig using IEMs - I reached too far and twisted getting my bass off its stand. I thought that was the worst of it, then Sunday it triggered a bit of sciatica too. Silly, silly boy.
played sat down too, so I know it was poor handling that did for me.

iLok are available pretty easily - any online retailer should be able to sell you one, but they're MUCH more expensive than when I bought mine - they're about £60 now! You'll need the iLok Manager software (free download), an account with the iLok software, and a license in your iLok account that you can drag over to the iLok

Best sound I ever managed to get from a Metal Zone was the satisfying 'clang' as it hit the inside of a skip.
Your mileage may vary though.

Easiest Motown bassline (from a non-syncopated, treading perspective) is probably "Baby Love" by Diana Ross an the supremes - just a steady crotchet note line throughout.

Depping for a local party band for a 50th last night. 2 sets of floor fillers and some very enthusiastic audience participation. Cab ride home in the snow was slow going though!

Ebony is pretty hard wearing, so you should be able to keep rounds on there and not have to worry too much about it. Personally I favour Rotosound Nexus on my fretless, but they are more round wound than flats. I've tried LaBella tapes on there too, but they were just so floppy. LaBella Low Tension Flats are great strings for a fretless too.

Probably my fretless Jazz through a DHA VT into an Ampeg SVT classic out to a 6x10”.
Trouser wettingly good.

I've got three. One fretless Jazz/MM Hybrid and a fretted counterpart, and a P bass in the lounge for noodling at home.

I really like iReal Pro. It’s dead handy for my post-covid brain to take out the reliance on my shocking memory, but it’s also really clunky when making my own charts. Still the best thing I’ve tried.

Hohner b2a or b2b.
They look like a steinberger and have some licence part/design from them.
I had one was surprised how good it was.
And EMG Licensed pickups if memory serves. My first 5 string was a B2V and as has already been stated it was great.

Every home should have one!

There's probably just a resistor (and/or) diode that's blown if you're lucky; it's likely that it's a quick and easy fix.

I'm not too bothered about the bass itself, but I've got to have a Jazz profile neck. Even on my Precision it's a Jazz neck.

A bamboo chopstick is a good tool to tap components, if there's a cold joint.
Also, and perhaps more importantly, it’s non-conductive

25K Linear sounds about right for an active bass, they're typical much lower value than passive instruments.

Very "disintegration"-esque. I Like it a lot.
