  1. Yamaha Reface DX Keyboard

This is a lovely portable keyboard from Yamaha and features many of the classic DX series sounds made famous in the 80’s. It is in excellent condition and comes with original midi adapter lead and Yamaha PSU. There is no box or manual included but the manual is available online. It’s very easy and intuitive to programme unlike its predecessors!

It is extremely portable thanks to its optional battery power and built in speakers so perfect for acoustic jams or for travelling with.

Pickup preferred but I can post in the UK only at cost. There are lots of demos of the sounds online. Thanks for looking.

  2. Price includes UK postage.

Sone wear to the chrome and signs of use but still excellent functional condition.

Steel bass bridge for four string instruments, compact design with a large range of adjustment in three dimensions. The saddles are fed and adjusted with Allen screws which reduces rattling and buzzing. Heavy, precision-crafted components for extra long sustain.
    Thanks for looking!

  3. SWR Working Pro 10 Combo

I’ve used this little combo for double bass and small gigs. As I no longer own a double bass it’s currently being used as a cat scratching post.

A great little amp that has a tilt back feature and switchable tweeter. Having owned several of the earlier Workingman series small SWR combos this compares well. It functions as it ought to but the carpet ‘rat fur’ covering has been scratched down to the wood in places (thanks to my cat who unbeknownst to me discovered it in the spare room). Pots are a little scratchy probably down to not being used for a while, nothing a little switch cleaner won’t shift. If you aren’t fussy about cosmetics this is a great amp for small gigs and rehearsals.

It weighs around 20kgs so I think pickup is best but if you wanted to organise a courier I could box it up. This would be at your risk though and UK only obviously. No trades. Specifications below -

The smallest member of the WorkingPro family, but don’t let that fool you! The WorkingPro 10 delivers 100 watts at 4 ohms in what amounts to a mini-thunderstorm. With a single 10’ speaker, piezo tweeter, and tilt-back design, this easily-portable little baby is great for small gigs and practicing.

    1X10" Eminence® speaker,

    Le Son® TLX-1e tweeter horn,

SWR® preamp with: Aural Enhancer™, Bass Intensifier™ circuit, Wedge EQ circuit,

    Side-mounted monitor input jack,

    3-Band Active EQ,

    Tilt-back cabinet,

    Headphone jack,

    Effects Send & Return,

Unbalanced 1/4" & Balanced XLR Lines out

    Height: 18.2 in (47 cm),

    Width: 17.9 in (45 cm),

    Depth: 15.3 in (39 cm)

    41 lbs. (18.6 kg)

  4. Waldorf Rocket Synthesiser Module

I’ve been using this little module as a bass synth for a while but have now upgraded. It’s great because it’s very stable and easy to use and a great introduction to synths for a newcomer. There’s an in depth review before and yes Waldorf still manufacture them as they are highly regarded for lead, bass, arpeggios, etc.

This one comes boxed with software and USB power lead (no plug but a USB phone charger plug does the job) and two custom overlays.

Postage in the UK will be around £8

This is interesting - it turned up on the FB Westbury group a week or so ago. It's someone's £10 (or thereabouts) car boot find, & appears to be a Track 4 which has been re-shaped for upper fret access, repainted & had a bodge defret. The reshaping's been nicely done to maintain the German carve, but the blue Dulux & hack defret are probably later. It also seems to have an additional microswitch, no idea why, should be v/t, selector & 2x series/parallel.

As a cheap car boot blag it'd be worth sorting out & getting re-fretted - the Track 4 was the top of the line Westbury bass and good condition examples go for decent money - but Ebay being Ebay it could get silly.

I’ve always wanted to try one but when they come up they are either overpriced or trashed. There’s a single pick-up bolt on version (Track 2) on eBay at a reasonable price but it’s pick-up only.

  6. Westone Thunder 1A bass MIJ Matsumoku made.

I listed this last week but withdrew it as I decided to get the pickup sorted out before I moved it on. I subsequently got it rewound by Armstrong Pickups and now it sounds as good as new. It has a surprisingly versatile 18v preamp and has lots of useable and punchy tones. It’s a real workhorse of a bass and built like a tank, all original with the exception of a replacement control knob. All switches and pots work properly and the action is nice and low. I’m moving house so selling on a few of my basses. This is a later model Thunder bass and was made around 1988 it’s a nice red colour and has a few dings and scratches. The trussrod works and the frets are good. It weighs around 3.9kgs. No trades sorry. UK only and pickup preferred. I can send it but would need to source a box or remove the neck to post it.

    A great value classic bass.

  7. Very rare UK built Shergold Marathon 8 string bass in cherry red. Probably made in 1980/81 as the shield logo is the later embossed version.

There were very few of these made and this is all original but missing the small trussrod cover.

The pickup sounds great and the bass plays well on the lower frets but past the 12th some of the notes choke out. So it could do with a set up and work on the higher frets to sort this out. The bass is strung with a GHS custom set. The bass is light weight and other than the usual Shergold lacquer cracking and some dings and marks is in fairly good condition for a forty plus year old bass.

The bass has two outputs for stereo but I’ve not used this facility. The neck is nice and slim and as it’s an 8 string with lots of tension on the neck the neck has a slight forward bow. I have also played this as a four string bass and it is typical Shergold very playable and punchy sounding. Truss rod works as it ought to. A piece of history. No case or bag but I can post at cost. Only selling as I am moving house and need to move on some of my collection. UK only. No trades. Thanks!

  8. Retrovibe Vantage Bass

This was the pre Chowney Retrovibe series I believe with the serial number written in pen on the headstock. The bass looks like the offspring of a meeting between two very different well known US made basses. The design actually works very well and the bass has a great sound and feel. I’m not sure if it’s of Korean or Indian manufacture as there are different threads out there about them however the opinions are very positive.

The bass is certainly of decent enough quality and plays well. The passive MM style pickups are loud with a good array of tones. The knobs are not original and if you look carefully they all have ‘treble’ lettering as opposed to two treble and two bass. I will include the original Jazz bass style knobs if you prefer. The bass is lightweight at under 4kgs and balances well on a strap. There is a chamfer on the upper part of the body making it comfy to play despite the binding. I’m selling it as I decided I need to get another 4003s bass. I had fallen out with them (again) but this has whetted my appetite for one.

The bass has minor cosmetic bumps and scratches to its body. There is a paint crack near the neck joint see pic but this is cosmetic and doesn’t effect the very solid neck to body joint.

There was a QC issue in that the pole pieces didn’t line up well with the strings so I moved the pickup by filing the scratchplate down. The neck route was pretty rough but now I’ve moved the pickup a couple of millimetres to the left it means the pole pieces on the neck pickup line up better.

There is no case but I have a decent box so can post in the UK only at buyer’s cost.

    It’s strung with flats.

An interesting take on some classic designs.

  9. I bought this recently as a friend had asked me to buy a cheap bass for her to learn on. The bass is in pretty good condition cosmetically with one ding on the back of the neck pictured. There is the outer part of one knob missing too. All screws are present (I’d taken the covers off to clean the circuit and replace the batteries), it has an 18v active pickup and the later Westone pickup. It was made around 1988 I’d say as it looks like the last run of Thunder basses.
Truss rod turns and it is pretty light weight at under 4kgs. There is an issue with the pickup - the treble side has a lower output and less zing.
Withdrawn I will get the pickup repaired before I sell it on
