1. I'm selling my Novation K station as I recently bought a Moog. The synth is in good condition with a few minor scuffs but plays as it should and functions well. The 'program' knob is quite sensitive and will sometimes skip the next patch number if turned too quickly but this function can be accessed using the programme buttons. It comes with a replacement PSU and the manual is available online. A really powerful synth for not so much money. I've added a couple of pics of the synth to show the condition. You can get some great fat bass sounds, it is also polyphonic and has a built in vocoder!

  2. This is a reluctant sale and I am putting out a feeler to gauge interest, this has been my main gigging bass for the past 5 years but recently I have been using my P bass and this has been sitting in it's case for 6 months.
It's a Gibson Grabber made in the US in the 70s, its an early version as the machineheads are unbranded and the through body strings are anchored by individual ferrules rather than a single plate of metal. The body and neck have plenty of play wear and buckle rash but there are no cracks or breaks. The neck has chunky frets and it has probably had a refret at some stage. All hardware is original including the generally lost or discarded bridge cover. The original owner told me that the logo decal had worn off so he had added a period correct replacement. The serial number is stamped on the back of the headstock. The pickp and slider function perfectly and the wiring and pots appear original. The scratchplate isn't warped like many Grabbers and has no cracks. The truss rod functions properly and the neck is straight and true a fantastic bass to play. The sound is super growly, great for rock music. I have played hundreds of gigs with this beast and it has never let me down. I'm not sure what these go for but I'm looking for around £795. I am not interested in trades at the moment I need to free up some cash. As you can see it is strung with Rotosound Black Nylons but I will include some used black steel roundwounds if required. I've had enquiries about shipping abroad that's OK within EU etc. but I would prefer the sender to arrange their own courier and insurance if that's the case. Cheers!

  3. Hi Dave, I sold the Birch last week, the Retrovibes look as good as the Shine basses and they are so much cheaper, I think the Shine bass is an expensive risk at that price. Faker's come up on here relatively frequently, maybe worth biding your time.

  4. It was the type with the funny headstock, they are all reasonably well made but I'd be unsure about their longevity in comparison to say an old Ibanez or CMI Faker. The hardware for example felt lightweight and cheap - all very shiny (s'cuse the pun) but no substance. There are still bargains out there especially given the recession, I got my US Rick as a restoration project off a local chap for less than that, mine needed a lot of TLC but it's now one of my main gigging basses.

  5. Hmmm, I had a Shine Rick and also a Tokai, both looked OK but certainly felt like a budget bass at a not so budget price and were sold on very quickly. There are cheaper alternatives out there that are as good if not better in terms of quality and you could always mod it yourself.

  6. I'm having a clearout of all the spare parts hanging around in my spare room,I've taken some pictures on my phone but message me if there is anything of interest you want me to take a better picture of.

How does it compare to your grabber? Mine is my weapon of choice, but this is rather lovely!
Well its not as physically unwieldy as the Grabber and has no neck dive, balance is perfect. I think the Grabber has probably nailed the Rock and Roll sound for me but obviously this has a lot more flexibility. Playability wise it is a very easy bass to get along with as the neck is so slim and shallow compared to the Gibson. If you want a unique take on a Rick this is the best out there with great lineage.

  8. [sup]It's actually fairly light - around the same as my 4001 bass at 9lbs. Soundwise you can get a lot of variation thanks to the Birch pickups and multiple controls, you can get the Ricky clank and also a great Thunderbird type tone so its great for rock, the surprise is that this can produce a mid range jazz type sound too, yep it can sound funky! Cheers for the comments it really is a bargain at this price.[/sup]

  9. As the title would suggest here is my lovely Eastcoast 'stick' bass, it comes with gigbag, spike, 'wings' and one set of steel strings and one set of 'weedwacker' strings. It is a nice red colour with the grain showing through. Generally in excellent condition although the nut was replaced by the previous owner and there is a chip where the nut meets the neck. Now sold
