  1. thanks fr that positive advice buddy cant wait to do this as itll be the bass that stays iwth me for agesss i want it to all be usable and have everything that a working bass needs, so that no other bass sohuld be getting used out the house, the bass so far will be like this: sunburst body, with black pickguard the maple bound and blocked neck gotoh 201 or badass 2 bridge schaller straplocks audere jz3 preamp, or j retro? maybe replace tuners, but definately have a drop d thingy. dunno what there called lol any other advice? has anyone got pictures of a sunburst jazz with maple neck? x
  2. i just want something that is individual and i havent heard or seen of anyone who has done this before, and i like the one that adam clayton uses on one on the vertigo tour dvd looks lush! x
  3. anyone want to buy my fretless squier jazz off me, its the vintage modified one and is mint... Pm me? Thanks marcus x
  4. right the people basically i have here a squier jazz bass vintage modified fretless and im getting the fretted version soon too ... Basically my plan is this. To take the neck from the fretted and put it on the fretless then add a few mods including: badass and gotoh bridge and an audere preamp, put a black scratchplate on and away we go my favourite looking jazz. But. I also like the look of the natural body, what would people do on here? Just a few opinions. As i will probably sell the fretless soon x

  8. the bass of the moment for me is the bass that im going to do in the future. Im going to combine the body of my fretless jazz and the fretted neck of my other squier im getting the one with blocks in it. Then im going to update the tuners and get an audere preamp in there. Gotoh 201 bridge and black scratchplate. Or just leave them both standard not sure yet! But i do want to make a bass for all occasions and i think this would be ideal the other basses im loving at the moment are both on youtube. One is the jazz bass this bass player whos name escapes me for the moment on fourplays night rhythms. It has a preamp of somekind and has a control plate and scratchplate as one. Black with maple dotted neck looks and sounds great also put into youtube darryl williams and check out his video on a blue low end jazz bass. It sounds heavenly! Honestly! Xx
  9. my perfect bass would be this. A jaydee series 1 or 4 body shape with two jaydee pickups on display, two status pickups under the surface and two marcus milerr jazz pickups under the surface and two alembix pickups. The bass would have 4 outputs on the body edge. With a jaydee selector switch for each, these signals would go from the bass into a routing station thingy, get effected and eq'd and all fed into an ashdown mk500 and a trace elliot mp11 then mixed into two ebs 4x10's and two swr 1x15's, so thats the sound sorted, the body would be made of the lightest wood available at the time, careless of apperance as i would cap the top and back with quilted maple of the finest quality, the neck woods would be reminiscent of an alembic and i would custom make the head to look like a pangborn, the fingerboard would be phenolic with front and side leds and maple binding...the leds would be red i think with the option to change the colours to blue or green or white. The bass would have a kahler tremolo arm and a jaydee rollerball nut and schaller tuners.... I bet this bass would cost so so much to make as it would include the jaydee electronics and the alembic electronics and the fender electronics all mounted on a rack easily selectable the fender electronics would be by sadowsky i think as im a fan of marcus miller what do you guys think? X
  10. now that is stunning it i had the money i would buy this not keen on the sound of alembics myself but ljust to look at amazing good luck with the sale bud. Im sure some people will aprreciate that its a proper alembic not a signature model that the artists in question dont even play lol x
  11. here i have my precision bass project that i got in a trade with daboosty from here. Its great but i really need funds for my squier jazz that im getting as well as other music stuff lol. so it has a fretted neck and a fretless one too... It has a gold badass 1 bridge and a fender one too, and a rout for a jazz pickup and an emg select precision pickup, offers? P.s. This can be seen in my build diary thread. Thanks marcus x
  12. bump, these neeed to go, trades for laptop? recording stuff? basses, whatever really and 50 pounds
  13. im thinking of selling or trading this as i dont use it as much as my fretted instruments even if its fun to blast out teen town on. Its a squier jazz modified fretless which is like new only modifications are the black schaller straplocks and a good set up lol you also get a hardcase with this which is pretty cool and will obviously protect it whilst in shipping im not desperate to get rid of this but thought id put the feelers out there. Im thinking of 200 quid with the case, or trades for a peavey cirrus bxp, squier jazz, squier precision, laptop, musicman sub or olp...or anything really try me.. Thanks marcus
  14. right out of my whole rig all i have left to sell is lthese two. My behringer rack eq. I think its the peq2200pro, which is a great unit really livens up your sound and adds bags of tonal flexibility. The other is the behringer virtualizer pro dsp1000p which again is a great unit capable of many good sounds and is ideal for any who is new to rack effects. Both unis are mint and have power supply and instructions im looking at 40 pounds for a quick sale, help me out pleaseeeeeeeeeeee! This stuff wil really not dissapoint cheers marcus
  15. mark king paul williams george anderson
  16. it looks like the sub is the way forward. I mean theres not much stopping me mod it too. E.g status-graphite neck and east preamp or similar....x
  17. right ive now got all my sounds covered: jaydee: a top class all rounder and perfect for my soloing stuff and slap obviously. My status: even more soloing and not bad for all rounding a bit thin though. Precision: does what it says on the tin, from forget me nots to funeral pyre, its there. Fretless jazz: lovely sounding instrument and all the fretless ill ever need. Jaco included! soon ill have a fretted jazz: this will be my go to instrument and is great for everything. Marcus is my name right so just when i thought i had it all down i now want a musicman, for those chic moments and for some brothers johnson too. My choice is musicmans is simple, the cheaper the better so im thinking a second hand sub would fit this bill nicely, a change of pickguard and wahey! They look great. However by the time i get one which will be in a few months yet, im saving for a laptop, the tc electronic desktop interface and some studio monitors this will allow me to get some stuff recorded im quite interested in the sterlings too. How much do they go for second hand? And also them new ones look quite nice. Quite interested to hear your thoughts on this people. Thanks marcus
  18. racks gone just the effects and eqq to go now. Also got a fender alike bridge to go and a jazz pickup. 5 each
  19. just thought id upload a picture(s) there not very good but i thought yaknow why not x what dya think?
  20. the edge kicks his rickenbacker? when?
  21. just thought id post this on here because i simply cant stop watching this, ive watched it twice tonight and watched it last night and the night before and its just great. Im not a big fan of bono and i think larry mullen and adam clayton arent amazing musicians but i dont care about that the dvd is just great and the edge is an absolute genius.... his guitar work is just amazing and he uses about 20 guitars in one show haha! Tracklisting: by the way if you have seen this post your thoughts, if not then do you will not be dissapointd trust me! City of blinding lights: a great tune off the album and is a great show opener love their stage vertigo: is poweful and energetic and there is a great extra bit of the end of the song too check out the bass tone with a touch of octaver sounds perfect... Elevation: brilliant guitar-pedal work and just a great tune. Cry/ the electric co: one of my all time favourites by them and usually the one that gets rewound on the dvd a fantastic song. An can dubh/ into the heart: like this never heard it until the dvd and was quite taken with it beautiful day: a classic tune for many, not one of my favourites originally but this live version completely changes my mind about the song it sounds cool. New years day: my favourite u22 track and great bassline on this one not particullary skillful or difficult but just right for the song. Dont like the tone on the album but the sherwood green jazz on here sounds f***in great. One of my fave tones of all time. Miracle drug: loved it on the album and live its even better. Top marks. Sometimes you can make it on your own: what a great feeling song, the edge work on the rick 12 string is touching love peace or else: a good song but not a fave sunday bloody sunday: not bad this one but again not one of their best imho bullet the blue sky: again the bass tone is spot on and i love the track too. Running to standstill: nice track this with nice piano work by edge pride: a classic for sure and i love it on here where the streets have no name: imo a great touching song by u2....and the guitar work at the start is brilliant a true genius and the chord changes are amazing throughout one: love the track, and is great on here truly and bonos guitar work sounds good too. Zoo station: not a fan personally fly: again no mysterious ways: my least favourite all because of you: imo sounds very who'y and is great for it one of my faves off the album and live sounds great! Original of the species: love the feel of this song live.... Yahweh: this live is lovely and the sounds of that gibson from the edge are to die for... 40: quite weird to see the edge playing bass on this track but his tone is lovely from that lakland. I think its a joe osborn mkodell not too sure though it looks like a natural jazz bass with pearl blocks and stacked knobs....definately a lakland though very modern sounding biut amazing! The dvd is absolutely wicked and their stage is amazing i would to gone and seen this tour it would of been excellent! i suppose ill have to go next time marcus x
