1. +6 294 but toying with selling an favor of a GT-6B
2. i dont know them personally but im abit of a gear nerd. which one is it specifcally 'cos when look round it comes up with a few- the sortv double cutaway or the SR shape or the one with the white explosionythingy and the bolt inlay- they all look fair sweet price wise i dont know but you can buy new ones fairly cheap considering, so in avarage nick 50 - 60% of the new price tops, otherwise get a new one for that kind of money. as i understand it any ibanez starting with G is the lowest in that series so dont expect them to be great, but ibanez wont make total junk. hope this helps
3. i dont leave 'till next year. hopefully. but i got my ashdown perfect 10 minirig today ready to take to uni next year- plus i wanted an amp for my room now cos i cant get the marshall cab upstairs a friend of mines going to uni in a few weeks to and hes after the same amp as me or soemthing similar- small enough for room use and easy enough to move, with headphone output, but thats loud enough for small gigs. he toyed with a little combo that could just ram into whatever cab was available too. security wise are the rooms insured for whats left in them? and how far would you have to travel just go home and fetch a better bass if you need?

Hello

some porcupine tree freaks me out. but i want that spector bass colin edwin has anyway- welcome- this place pwns if you lust the bass geetar or related items and topics
5. one pint or a few bottles and all is peachy. far less self concious- though thats improved since we became an all bloke band purely 'cos we were all kinda trying to score with her. could have been arkward.... as for the boozing, smoking ... etc'ing i dont know if it affected my playing 'cos the one time i was royally monged out and bassing everyone else was monged too- so they would have been equally hyped over teletubbies with the sound off, but it seemed pretty good but now its just drinking
6. yeah i think valves are better- my behringer OD pedal never sounded so good through my solid state laney but my JCM makes it sound awesomo. still upgrading to a DHA and blowtorch like but the tone from my marshall is such a step up from the laney its surreal. and as for the reliability point- my laney hated high gain sounds above about a third volume- the JCM valves just sound better the more juice gets pumped through 'em.
7. the guitar guitar in glazgow is legened and newcastle too. the glazgow ones awesomo cos theres a soundproof test room aaand a fender custom workshop down stairs- if you go dont miss it!. theres also merchant city music in glazgow on garth street- small place but my favorite shop ever. and moon guitars- abit out of the way but awesome- i think they did customs for the likes of bryan adams and texas and so on- build a guitar to you exact spec. enjoy
8. lmao- im going to have to carry out gazm's suggestion- its pure gold. im already indespensable enough i think- i got the place to practice, and all the gear in there, plus theres no replacements available replacements that could do it . ahh pride - not arrogance purely cos theres about 5 bassists in my school/college and none of them could do it yeh - i do prefer the bass parts especially motorhead/iron maiden/black sabbath ect just better for me you cant help but get into it - and the entire thing is empty without the bassline and every other part. im not wanting a more centre spot - the bassness goodness of a band is all i want from it, just hate being stereotyped as an inferior part ...but at least im prettier than my guitarist
9. yeah i have a friend who got one of those acrylic wesleys to learn abit on, it was better than my first guitar, just alot more weight. looked decent too, just not on me- pinks not my colour
10. lol, il try the razzing some snazz on in practice on tuesday just see how it goes. plus i like putting quite prominant bassline in stuff we come up with- doesnt suit everything but i love it when i get it right besides what the guitarist reckons though, alot of general people percieve bass is inferior- i dont get it 'cos to pick up and make some kind of regular noise- guitar is easier than bass i used to play electric and i play it occasionally still, and i love my acoustic 6string (hopefully soon get an electro bass)- but i totally agree with bassbunny; we got the better job. just bugs me how poeple generally reckon any guitarist is more skilled than any bassist.
11. haha im gonna have to try that one next practice. does it all have to be in the same key ect? normally when i improv' some bassness it winds up me just messing about in a pentatonic. but the drummer's pretty good for putting a beat and a few fills to anything. and i spose a rhythm guitar part would keep the timing too
12. seriously- what is it with guitarists thinking and being thought of as superior to bassists? if my guitarist makes any comment like "why i lowered myself to playing bass?" i have the old faithful putdown of "its cos im more used to handling big instruments". any one got any other quips please post i dont get it- no ones thats not a bassist of some kind will agree that bass is superior- im all for each to their own but come on- alot of "guitarists" knocking around just mastered a powerchord and its enough to make them sound a competant rhythm at best. no disrespect to the uber players like satch and vai but the uber bassists are just as good if not better. cant help it if ya gots to have the bassline get yer rant on si
13. ernie ball regular slinkys, generic enough to always be usuable i guess but they worked well with my viper and it it ate its way through 2 sets of rosetti strings in a week before them.
14. haha, that is one awesome collection, god knows how long i'd have to wait to get a setup like that. thru necks are the proverbial sex but i only have one and its not as nice as the smiths kudos
15. other; ESP LTD but hopefuly soon warwick or a fender
16. lol- so ive gotta OD on posts. on a mission
17. thanks- when is it your promoted to "no longer a newbie"?
18. aaaaaaaaah, i understand. thanks for the help. seems a really nice bass - kudos and i wonder how much the original would fetch on ebay... if you could bear to sell it
19. this is probly a really dumb question to you guys but ive been unsure of this for a while a cant get a definate answer; are the player custom basses you can buy, like the geddy lee mex's and the artist's custom is the USA custom shop model?
20. haha, yeah cheers- wanted since i started playing bass and just got earthmoving tone. still looking for the matching 412 to make a full stack
21. hello whoever reads this im hoping i put this post in the right place else il feel a reet tool i guess im fairly new to bass compared to the seasoned folk on here; only been playing just under a year ermmmm- quick list of what i tend to use properly rather than dossabout- an ESP LTD viper 254 with the EMG-HZ's, a J+D SB4 bass (just nice to have around) and my shmexi marshall JCM800 bass series with the matching 410cab . atm i use a cheap behringer bass overdrive which is legend for 15 quid but im thinking a blowtorch or something similar an the next few weeks- any comments welcome il play whatevers going really preferably anything "rock"- its just plain fun. lemmy is a bassist legend, i love the sound he beats out of his JMP's amd that custom rickenbacker. thats about all i gots to say for now, cheers si
