1. John was recommended to me by other bass chatters when I posted a thread about electronics issue in my Musicmaster bass. I have PM'd John, got quite quick reply and new set of electronics was sent to me the next day, 1st class signed for. I am a total noob when it comes to any electronically things, I don't know anything, and John made this so easy that it took me just a few mins to swap the original electronics for a complete set of new ones. Another reason to always seek help here on this forum, many thanks to people who recommended John, and to John himself!
2.
What is the weight of the bass...? I am interested, but the weight is a pretty critical thing to me.... Thanks..
I'm afraid that I do not have any accurate scale at the moment, but I will try to weight it using the good old bathroom scale and standing with and without the bass on it and then taking the difference, I know it's not super accurate but this is all I can do at the moment.
3. I had only one deal at Cash Converters, and it was the best deal in my life, I bough myself a Yamaha saxophone there when I had one of these days and I wanted to play sax after listening to some smooth jazz. Don't remember the exact model, but brand new back then, about 2 years ago, it was around £2000, and they had it for sale at £350. It was totally mint, not even a little scratch on it, so I bought it, tried to learn for about 3 months and then sold for £1100 and bought myself a Yamaha motorcycle . Since then I am always popping in to the Cash Converters, but I am every single time a bit disgusted on their prices, every guitar they have is way overpriced for a second hand, only about 5 or 10 quid cheaper than a new one, and they just don't sell them. I don't understand their pricing at all!
4. So, as I have managed to get my hands on a Musicmaster without having to trade, here I am bumping it with some new options, but still, very hesitant to let it go, so I am going to be picky, and I might actually withdraw it. But for now, PM me with any offers.
5. Thanks guys, I have just sent a message to Kiogon. I was thinking about replacing the pickup, but I read mixed things about those Stratocaster pickus on the internet, some people say that it is just fine, and some that replacing is a must. It does sound a bit thin, not even close to my P bass but the tone is stuck on the open side, so I want to try changing the electronics first and if it will be still a bit thin sounding, I will order the pickup too. Bridge as you said, is quite bad, are there any companies doing direct replacement?
6. To be honest, I am not concerned about keeping it original, as it was already messed up with a bad, spray paint job on the body and that's why I got it for about a 3rd of a price that it's usually selling at the moment. I got some pics and will post them here in a minute, but there are no writing on the actual tone pot. Edit: here are the pics
7. Hey guys, So I just got myself a '72 Musicmaster at a bargain price that needs some work. The electronics work, but the tone pot is not doing anything, it seems like it is just always 100% on on the treble side. I looked under the pick guard to see if any cables been broken, but everything seems to be okay (but it isn't). I am just thinking about replacing it, but my electronic knowledge starts and ends at the part that the plug goes into the socket. I have absolutely no idea about it unless I have a clear instructions. Can someone recommend or even post the link to the parts / pot I should get? The only thing I have done once in my life was replacing a jack socket in one of my basses because I knew which cables should be soldered to which parts. And as it was a real cheap bass I just want to do some of the work myself rather than taking it to the workshop.
8. Bought a Musicmaster bass from David. I was looking to trade my P bass for one of these, but David saw my ad and approached me with a great sale offer and as a result I was able to keep my P bass too He was a great person to deal with, good communication and he even dropped the bass for me. Deal with absolute confidence! Many thanks!
9. Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately I had one of these before and sent it back immediately, bad memories
10. Have a great NYE! This is still here, there is a potential deal lined up but as it didn't happen yet, I am still open to offers
11. Merry Christmas!
12. God, seems like problem sorted and it's not the Focusrite and not the Markbass. I was trying to connect it to my amp while it was plugged to my desktop Mac, and just to make sure I plugged it to my Macbook and then right to the Markbass instrument input and it works fine
13. Tried connecting Focusrite to effects return on my Markbass today, both from the speakers and headphones out on the interface with the same buzz/hiss. I am sailing the google but no luck, but as far as I have seen, some people are doing it this way and it works fine, so it is a possibility that the Focusrite just acts like that and I am thinking if I would connect it to DI and then from DI to the amp then maybe this could work, but I don't have my own DI and don't want to spend money on something that won't make any difference.
14. Thanks for the link, I went through the whole topic looking for an answer but it is mostly talking about iPad and things related to it. Then I saw your post and I was hoping that someone answered it, but no one did. Did you manage to sort it out? Do you plug your Focusrite straight to your amp?
15.
I was talking to a guy last week, he does a similar thing, using Ableton. You should just be able to use your 2i2. There's a guy on here with the user name Urb. Maybe message him ? I'm friends with him on Facebook, he's friends in real life with Matt Garrison. He was at the gig, and posted photos on Facebook. I'm sure he'll be able to tell you what the set-up was. In fact I'm pretty certain that he does a similar thing himself.
Many thanks Ambient, I searched for the user you recommended and noticed it's Mike Flynn, I don't know him personally but we have few friends in common and I have already sent him a message on Facebook right after I posted this thread but I am not sure if he will be able to see the message as the non-friends messages usually go to the 'others' folder unnoticed. I am not sure if I can use just the Scarlett itself, as I said, when I plug the output to the amp, there is just a huge hiss, but it works just fine with the studio monitor.
16. Hey guys, I am using Ableton Live for music production for a while now (I am using Push 2 with it) but I never realised that it can be a powerful fx processor too, and I have recently seen Matt Garrison on youtube playing a gig and I noticed he had Ableton set up with SoftStep etc. Now I realised that probably I can save myself quite a bit of money and use my laptop instead of buying another bunch of pedals. I hooked my bass and tried few things and it sounds great. Then I started thinking how I am going to hook it up to my bass amp? That's the advice I need. If any of you are using that kind of setup can you please share with me how you connect it to the amp? I got focusrite scarlett 2i2 and I thought it will be as simple as connecting one of the outs to the amp input (I got Markbass mini CMD121) after setting out the master out in ableton just to that one single out on the scarlett, but when I connected the jack to the amp I can just hear a massive hiss, so obviously there is something I am missing and I guess these outs are different than signal coming from the instruments. Any help would be much appreciated because I want to have it all set asap and google doesn't help.
17. Just put the roundwounds back on, going to play 'brazilian love affair' on it today and it sounds amazing
18. There is currently a 14 days free trial offer running on the SBL. I signed up because I am on the mailing list and received an e-mail saying that he posted interview with Hadrien Feraud and I really wanted to see it. Just want to mention that I am a 2nd year student doing my degree at one of the music schools in London. I highly encourage to try that trial offer and have a look around, I am certainly going to cancel it, not because I think it is not worth it, just purely due to my financial situation, because once the trial expires, you have to pay for one year straight away. It cost $168 which is about a £110, that's less than a 10 quid per month. Just think how much you have to pay for a one to one hour lesson with some good bass players and then do the maths. I am currently just trying to spend my time watching the archived seminars and there is a lot of it from not only a great bass players but a great educators as well. Add interviews and podcast etc. The layout is amazing, and you can tell that this website is very well prepared and structured, and I was a member of other very well known bass player website that charged much more and I cancelled due to poor organisation on the website. With the free trial I can't really see why you shouldn't just try it and make your own mind. I think it is well worth it, I am paying £6k a year tuition fees, of course you can't compare it because I am learning much more than bass playing and I am making a lot of connections with other musicians and play a lot, which is priceless, and this is the only downfall of learning online.
19. Hi, I am really not thinking about doing that, i am perfectly happy with the bass and will trade only as I don't want a period without a 4 string bass. You can always trade and sell the P Bass
20. Thank you lownote12 but I am not selling this bass, just trying to trade and not even sure if I will even if I will get the offers, it is great, I play it everyday and I just love it more and more, especially with the flats on.

22. I sold my bass to Jeebas and just want to leave a positive feedback. We agreed on a deposit followed by the rest on a specific date and everything went smooth. We had a great communication during the process too. Another highly recommended basschatter
