Sometimes this happens early on too: I picked up my Prophet 10 for less than the Prophet 5 (from the same store) only about 4-6 weeks after it launched. It went back up by several hundred thereafter. The new one has been selling very well, they haven’t stopped shipping out units since the launch. What did you get instead? Pedal or keyboard?

Yep. I paid £300 for my used FI I. You will still need to feed it clean lines, there’s no sorcery involved. The algorithm is now faster and better at locking on to pitches. (There are some further improvements coming too. We had a routine running in beta testing that was even better, but the pedal was crashing occasionally. Some optimisation work has been done to significantly reduce processor load now so work on that new algorithm can continue. I’m pretty excited about that as it was just amazingly fast and accurate.)

Stores are at liberty to list at whatever price they like once they’ve bought and paid for units; RRP is just that, recommended. They’ll order in bulk and get a better deal. Big stores can afford smaller margins on some products. And it’s not uncommon at all for the launch price of a product to be 10-20% higher than later on once more units have sold. I don’t think anyone who has already bought one is feeling ripped off. Getting a chunk of money up front means that they can afford to pay me for all my work!🙂

I think they were €229 as a special launch price. Standard is €299.

They still don’t have UK distribution. They sell via musicstore.de so check if they have a VAT arrangement like Thomann. I’m trying to persuade the guys from Signal Sounds to become a UK distributor. I don’t fancy the hassle and outlay of doing it myself. Bass Direct and Joe’s pedals never got back to them.

Finally managed to hook up Gaz Williams with the Panda guys. Look out for some interesting video explorations in the near future.

There was no firm reschedule date for my op so I decided go to Berlin after all. After five years of FI collaboration, Andras and I finally met in person for the first time.

It was a staple for me for years. It’s a great pedal.

Yep, these are great, even stock. I have a white/rosewood and a Miami blue. I’m honestly tempted to get another couple to cover all the string type/neck wood combinations. 😆

That 63 is lovely. Another I got to play when Ian bought a bass from me.

I got some amazing distortion and oscillation going on in a Peavey Cirrus BXP when the battery was dying. I wish I could have replicated it as it added a very humorous touch to one piece during a band rehearsal.

Feel is the only detectable difference in this one. More precisely, it’s the way the envelope decay time changes when playing harder and softer. There’s very little in it though and this digital one is plenty responsive. Has a good knobby interface too so not lacking at all for hands-on panel control.

For me, much of my setup was centred around synth sounds, but since getting my keys chops to a reasonable standard now I feel I’ll do all that stuff on keys. (The exception is the FI as it is a synth and I’m still heavily involved in its development.) Hence I’ve shifted a bunch of stuff that I was using to do synth sounds. I definitely enjoy the process of trying stuff out but seem to have moved onto bigger toys with synths. Still, I’m trying to look at what I’m using to make music versus what I’m just using to muck around with. I’m really trying to pare down to what I’m most likely to use regularly and for bass, aside from the FI, that’s likely to be envelope filter, phaser, octaver and a preamp. (The delay and reverb stuff is good in conjunction with the synths. I still need to get my head around compression.) Oh, and regarding analogue envelope filter, wait until you get your hands on the thing I cannot name yet, it may well change your mind. It really is that good.

At the moment the list is: Panda Audio Future Impact I and V4 Source Audio C4 Source Audio Lunar Source Audio Spectrum Source Audio Collider Source Audio Ventris Source Audio Atlas Source Audio Nemesis ADT Source Audio Bass ZIO MXR Bass Envelope Filter Singular Sound Beat Buddy TC Electronic June 60 Chorus Broughton Audio Fliptop MXR Phase 95 Plus something I can’t disclose yet. I’m selling the June 60 chorus. I’m fairly sure I’ll get another analogue octaver though. The one in the C4/Spectrum is very good but isn’t quite the same.

Well, I did end up selling my analogue octavers (might regret that). Also let my MuTron Microtron go because I found a digital pedal that is almost indistinguishable. Down to 17 now, only 5 are analogue.
