  1. As a point of order, I think that the Manta counts as a multi-fx unit; after all, phasers can exist as a stand-alone filter pedal, as can the other variants in there. Plus it has a drive/dirt section. So, I think you need to either allow multi-fx units (after all, if one were forced to choose only one, why wouldn’t one choose one which covers many bases?) or you need to disallow the Manta. This is a difficult one for me. The thing is, my pedals function individually as part of a system so having only one part makes little sense on its own. I can safely say that the Mastotron is here to stay, but on its own it is less interesting to me. For sheer versatility it’d be the Manta for me (even though there are better-sounding filters out there). Honestly though, few things on my board are truly safe.
  2. I could also sing its praises. I still have one and love it (apart from the size and 24V supply). I’m actually still hoping to find a + version so I can get the loop.
  3. I was curious which filter you were keeping after your big sale.

    Spectracomp

Yep, the Nik West one is one that jumped out at me when trying out various presets.

    Spectracomp

Hopefully that will be addressed with the new app.
  6. Is the original bridge present? (The covers won’t fit over a Badass.) Free bump.
  7. I’ll take the hub please. (Would still like to see pics.) Is the Q-tron the old big box?
  8. I agree. If it’s not possible to amend the title, I’d venture it’d be far less confusing to just lock this thread and create a new, up-to-date one, especially given the original thread is 18 months old.
  9. I’ve just realised you said you’re using this with the Manta. Have you made sure that the Manta’s drive type and drive levels are set to zero (fully anti-clockwise)? I found that it sounded horrendous running the Mastotron into the Manta when its own drive model was running. Turning it off made a huge improvement.
  10. Or get something like the Source Audio OFD or Aftershock which give you a choice of dirt and a noise gate which can be used on any model.
  11. Also worth a try. The TC sentry is good and not too pricy.
  12. Woolly Mammoth is well-known for not liking active basses. Try the Mastotron as it has an impedance control which makes it work well with active basses.
  13. Earthquaker Devices Tentacle?
  14. What were your reasons for getting rid of the MF-101?
  15. I’ve been playing for 25 years and only got my first compressor two days ago, in fact it was the first time I’d ever used one. I can definitely see how it will be useful, when applied relatively subtly. Most noticeable difference was when slapping (which I don’t do loads of; I mainly play fingerstyle, funk/disco kind of lines). It’s a Spectracomp by the way.
  16. I bought a compressor from Gavin yesterday. Communication was quick and friendly and he’d posted it about ten minutes after I’d agreed to buy it and paid. It duly turned up today and is in great condition. Fantastic service and heartily recommended. Many thanks.
  17. I disagree. Unless you already have one, you really owe it to yourself to check out a ZVex Mastotron if you’re into creating synth sounds. It’s the bomb. (The Fat Fuzz Factory was a close second.)
  18. Thanks, he already knows though as I mentioned last night.
  19. Thread resurrection. I've had this very thought recently. Tom at Cog Effects would be my first port of call.
  20. I sold Joseph a Fat Fuzz Factory. Communication was clear, prompt and friendly and payment was made shortly after agreeing to purchase. I’d have no hesitation in trading with him again. Many thanks.
