I never “got” Guns N Roses when they emerged, took me about 10 maybe 15 years to appreciate them and specifically Duff McKagans bass playing.

Another Ashdown RM500 EVOII recommendation here. Though also happy to recommend the Ampeg PF500 for the sound (having had two, one which was great, the other which didn’t last a rehearsal I’m not keen on their reliability).

So sorry to hear this Gasman

Must admit I`ve never really been one for asking studio people what they think of the material, if they offer an opinion or suggestion then great but otherwise I just acknowledge that they must listen to so much that that it`s probably seldom they hear something they really like.
That said I do like to receive input on arrangements/playing etc, on our current album which is due for release in June the producer suggested a few things on bass which I did and they certainly add to the tracks, never too old to learn.

As already advised, for speaker cables go to @Chienmortbb He has taken over from another Basschatter and makes cables from the highest quality components at very reasonable prices. Many brand names rely on snake oil to justify their high prices. These ones rely on reputation on here. I know which I trust more!
I have one of his on its way to me at present.

Makes me very envious of those able to cart such gear around, would love one of these but sadly reading about them is at the top end of my limits now.

DEF good for metal!

Packed up my gear and removed it from the stage so that the next band could get set up, took said gear to the green room, hung around to see the first half of the main bands set then set off home.

Didn’t Big Country use those back in the 80s…….

I know I’m a heathen and that the punk police will give me a kicking in the cells for this but I’m afraid I prefer Guns N Roses version of Down on The Farm to the original by The UK Subs.

As above White Squier CV Mustang, get a custom made pink scratchplate (earlpilanz from EBay perhaps).

I know of several bands that only meet up for gigs
Dave
My gigging band is like that Dave, we all get on well but the only time we get together is gigs, rehearsals, recording. Suits me fine, exactly what I want from a band.

I’ve been in bands with such types before and left because of them. I won’t work with people like that. There’s no point in confronting them about it or trying to get them to change as in their minds they are all that counts. As soon as “I’m not, I won’t, I don’t” starts to get banded about that’s me gone.

I prefer 50-105 so as to get heavier strings on the D & G, to counteract against the pickup positioning. Def sound more balanced to my ear than 45-105.

Sounds good Dave, the mention of Dunoon takes me back a few years to when we played there, was certainly a journey and a half!

Yes they’re coated, and long scale, which fit fine on the string-thru Mustangs.

I use 50-105 Elixir steel rounds on my Mustangs @dmc79they get fairly near the feel/tension of the 45-100s that I used on my Precisions.

In my last band FB was invaluable, the singer utilised it to work really well for us.

As sadly OBBM no longer makes his wonderful leads is there anyone else that does - I’m sure I read that someone else is doing this but I can’t remember who.
For info I’m after a heavy duty jack to jack speaker lead, 2metres.
I’ve looked at Design A Cable but their speaker cable in comparison to OBBMs is rather thin - I want the big thick cable that he used.

Just got in from a Spacewasters gig at The Barn in Portsmouth. Went very well, the new 5-piece lineup settling in nicely.
Stage sound and sound out front were good, and bonus, not too loud as not a very big place. Good crowd too, and we were asked to do 2 extra songs by the people running the gig as we had gone down so well.
I used my JMJ Mustang Bass into my Ashdown RM500 v2, with that connected to the headliners Marshall VBC412. I also used my Nux wireless kit which worked a treat.

Saw Slash with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators last night, at Wembley Arena,
Really good gig, great sound imo, without cacophonous bass drum which is always a plus for me. At time lead vocals could have been a bit higher maybe but you could still hear them, if not fully understand them.
The whole band played as tight as the proverbial, and Slash is just a monster on lead guitar.
