Basically what Chris said....
This is a transition Euro bass before Stuart got the rights back to the 'Spector' logo/brand. Full maple, just like the US basses, and well before they switched to the walnut sandwich of the LX models.
These are excellent basses but quite hard to put a value on as some people want the full Spector logo/crown inlay experience while others prefer the more classic build quality of these. With the headstock laminate I'd leave as is though. Let any buyer deal with it, should they deem it necessary.
You're probably talking around £1200-£1500 for this. There are a lot more Spectors out there, and choice of Spector styles, than there used to be so used prices aren't what they could/should be..... and this beauty needs the right buyer!

THIS..... just beautiful. A Top 10 ever guitar solo from Erland Krauser and stunning performances from all, including the phenomenal Todd Sucherman (Styx) on drums...
Wonderful 🥰 -

Cetera, any specific reason why the drummer was set up off to the right and not centre stage ?
We're a 7 piece band (2 lead vocalists), drums keys, 2 guitarists and bass. In a theatre type environment it allows us to set the stage in a much more equal way visually.

What I want to know is why Gene Simmons, Adam Clayton and Sid Vicious are not on the list?
I'd happily vote for Gene. He's a lot better than he is given credit for and hugely influenced me to not only take up bass but also in my playing style.

Have voted for Squire, Gunnarsson, Pastorious in rough chronological order of when they started to influence me.
Conspicuously missing from the list; Louis Johnson, Dee Murray, John Giblin
Good call on Dee Murray!

Ah seems we are limited to a total poll list of 30...so despite my best intentions the list is now closed!
Sorry to those of you who's favourites I've not managed to list.
Meh..... Oh well, I've voted for my 4th fave.... Rutger.... plus 2 others then....

Another vote for Uptown Funk.
But for the love of dog, play it on a 5 string so it has the low end booty. Playing an octave up ruins it.
Sounds fine on a 4 with a good octave pedal.

I thought that was a bit odd. Strange decision that.
Do you know what Pat’s red bass was? Sorry to keep picking your brains 😂
Yep, it was an old late 80's Hamer Blitz bass. He picked it up recently and has been playing it on this tour...- 1

Saw Extreme/Living Colour last night and bumped into @Merton in the bar!
Enjoyed Living Colour (having seen them numerous times since the original Marquee and Astoria gigs back in the day) but the sound wasn't great and I thought they should have dumped the opening Led Zep cover and played Middle Man instead... Who needs covers when you have a limited set time? Doug's Spector cut through nicely though as alwaysExtreme were on fire.... Fantastic performance and great set list! Rare to have a band where 3 of the 4 members are all capable of being lead singer and they capitalised on it with some fantastic harmony vocals. Gary Cherone's voice is still very good considering their advancing ages and the energy levels he was putting in. Pat Badger's bass playing was excellent as always.... hugely underrated player imho...
Gutted we had to leave just before the final track of the main set 'Get The Funk Out' (which is what we had to do) as with the tube station shut we had to navigate 4 trains to get home at the end of the night

Classical orchestras (and soloists...) are still playing, 'live', the music of yesteryear by the likes of Mozart, Bach, Dvorak etc. Could we not consider this as being in the 'tribute' corner, and have 'tribute' bands playing stuff from Kiss, Abba or whoever..? T'would be a 'live' performance, at least, with the option of having 'real' interaction with the audience. Just a thought.
That already happens.
This is something new/different using technology. -
Having seen and loved the ABBA avatar show I knew KISS would be next as soon as I saw it. It makes perfect sense and I look forward to seeing it (though I imagine it will be based in Vegas, rather than as a touring show). 🤘🤘

(3) Bass guitar in a well-established party band.
Although the band is not especially local to me, they do decent well-paid gigs including weddings.
I did a fair bit of preparation before the audition, going through their online videos to see how they tackled the songs - not just the 3 audition numbers. The auditions were in a proper well-equipped rehearsal studio, and I took my cue from the band by taking my ampless rig and IEMs. They were a nice bunch of guys and all went well.
Next day I got a message thanking me for coming and inviting me to be on their dep list - they are still looking for a permanent bassist. I call that a result.
I think we may have auditioned for the same band? In Soton?

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2023?
in General Discussion
Posted · Edited by cetera
It's been a great year for gear purchases with nothing bad tbh.
Best gear purchases were definitely the four Ltd Edt Spector Euro X basses I got in the custom order I organised with Bass Direct.....
a used Gallien Krueger 700RB-II head...
...the fabulous Di Cosimo 800RB pedal (basically a classic GK800RB head in pedal form)..
...and a beautiful 'plum crazy' Spector NS Dimension HP!
