1.
I just did another rehearsal with my Gedo and it sounded great. Enjoy.
Which model have got Bilbo and is it any good for moondance?
2.
Nice one Mr Stingray! I think mine took 3 or 4 working days to arrive so hopefully you'll have it soon
Fingers crossed
3. It's going to be a long week!
4. Well I would have a Ray obviously, and maybe a bigger amp, and 5 strings, and a good tuner, and I only like EBMM strings and at least 500 watts of amp......
5. I have done it (I still blame Alistair as it was his thread that started it) Here is the link they sent me so as to raise a special item that could be ordered online, note the adjustable bridge and Spirocore strings, shipping was 95 euros, I am waiting to see what that has cost me all in with todays exchange rate http://www.gedo-musik.de/shop/product.php?id_product=802
6. I found Status necks a bit lifeless, and I have seen a total codge done by Status when asked to fit the tuners for the customer but that is another story and not mine to divuldge really. Graphite necked Musicman= Modulus IMO
7. For the majority of us here (me included) a decent Jazz bass of Squier upwards quality and some form of quality amp with at least either a 2x10 or 1x15 cab will get you 90% there, after that its for the fun of it and if your enjoying your nice gear you will enjoy the gig, if you enjoy the gig others will enjoy watching it
8. I have seen him mentioned before but as I said at the time he needs a better website, nothing too fancy but a decent SLR camera and an up to date stock list is a must IMO
9. I'm going to order a pot
10.
Congratulations - and good luck with the venture! I sense more questions to come?!
Many!
11. It is listed on their site ready for me to order, just waiting for my buyers payment to show in my bank
12. Fingers crossed I am ordering my gedo bass tomorrow!
13. its a nice bass at a nice price, bit sad to sell it really still I can order my gedo upright tomorrow to ease the pain!
14. Don't by the nyman rosin online either, im not happy with mine
15.
pete is that my old bass? did you get it from anthorp? i seem to remember that ding
Yes, Yes and you remember correctly As a known BC man of knowledge on all things bass I am happy to hear your thoughts on this particular beast?
16. Cheers mate I have listed my basses on here now so I will see what goes down
17.
I started on a basic gear4music bass that I ordered online. I've just upgraded to a late 1800's German flatback. As soon as I got the gear4music bass I started getting loads more gigs and it wasn't long before I had earned back the money I'd paid for it (plus the £100 setup). I definitely think it would be worth considering something cheap that can get you used to playing an upright before shelling out on something better. I managed to sell my gear4music on to a friend and didn't really lose much money on it so happy days.
This is where I am at mate, The Gedo one I am after would surely sell on for a decent price? Half carved, ebony board, proper tuners, adjustable bridge and fitted with Spirocores. If I looked after it surely I would get back £650-750 for it?
18. Hey Owen those Yita music bows that I got recommended on here are really nice and mine came pretty quick too, I think wood of any type might be left in favour of carbon if its less than a few hundred quid
19. Cheers dude I know it's a cliche but it really does blow must genuine fenders away, as you know
20. Just got in from work,I will reply to all the messages shortly!
21. Can't beat a proper 90's bass collection
22.
Hi StingrayPete, Does it come with a case?
Hi mate it came in a modern case which I have taken a shine to but I could provide an Ernie ball rectangular case at the full asking price
23. Thanks guys I picked it up at the right money and have priced it accordingly, not many about at this price is there? If it goes back on the wall for ten years I won't be too upset but I'd really like a decent upright which this will only just get me into a beginner range!
24. OK I love this bass as I pretty much built it! but it has no B string and I am saving up for a double bass Affinity Squier Jazz bass but with- Bartolini pickups EBS preamp hidden behind control plate. Badass II bridge. Jack socket drilled into body to allow original plate to be used for Volume, Treble, Bass, PU Blend controls. Genuine 3 ply B/W/B Fender pickguard. Fret edges dressed in neatly, no sharp edges here. Small Affinity range tuners replaced with full size open tuners, hold in tune perfectly. Pikey eBay Fender logo that is actually green up close Really light weight bass for anyone with a bad back but with a massive sound and playability to equal basses of much more value, I have never played a genuine Fender Jazz that has come even close to this bass! Cost to build another would be well over £500, I am looking for £250 ( the bridge, pickups and preamp are worth most of that IMO) some soft dents etc, this was gigged most weekends for about 4 years. Collection from Stafford area preffered Last price drop, I'd rather keep it or sell it in parts than for less than £250.
