1. I have actually changed it but for some reason it only comes up on my laptop, the phone still has the old pre EB one?
2. I know I never thought I would sell it, the only thing wrong with it was the lack of B string
3.
I'd go for the Octavia estate. The new version is out soon with a bigger boot. Have you thought of the Suberb estate? That thing is massive inside. If the 159 is anything like the 156 then the boot opening was quite small and an odd shape. The Octavia and the A4 are basically the same car (as is the Passat) and a BMW is a BMW (no indicators, difficulty staying in lanes...)
I'm pretty sure the Octavia is actually only on the golf/ A3 chassis rather than the A4 , it's not actually as big as it looks.
4. There is no choice, you are either a bassist in which case you buy a Focus our your not
5. I think there were enough bought from new with tags to rule that idea out early on? I'm not keen on the vomit to be honest and mcnach knows he will paint it anyway!
6. Sell it! As long as you are putting the money to another bass chosen by you I see no problem, don't let the money be spent on wall paper and crap like that and you can get a bass you will use more that still has a connection. No idea what they are worth though I'm afraid
7. It does look the nuts, its hard to spot that it is a five string really, looks like a normal ray but a very tasty one!
8. Its a great bass no doubt about it but I do have two very similar ones and hopefully as backup to the Classic from now on, back to the joy of 2 band stingray goodness:)
9.
As one of the guilty parties I can honestly say it was a pleasurable experience whatever word you use to describe it And what's more, no cameras were involved (well certainly none that I'm aware of!)
Bass dogging must go on all over the uk every weekend! Looking forward to practice on thursday
10. Maybe, the one thing that is certain is that there were a lot of them sent out in series unless we were amazingly lucky!
11.
Nick bought my Stingray 5 Classic. A charming fellow, a smooth-as-silk transaction, all round good guy - deal with confidence. Thanks!
And now its mine! Traded my awesome beloved pre EB Ray with Nick in a proper gathered around a car boot at the Holiday Inn transaction that we all know and love, cheers Nick
12. A push pull pot for series parallel would be nice
13. I give you the new addition to the EBMM collection! Pre EB gone to the top bloke that is Old Horse Murphy as he wanted a Classic4 because of his duff hand and I wanted a Classic5 because of my duff wrist, bit of a meeting in a carpark bit of ooohing and looking at basses some folding cash (rude to tell to who or how much) and there you have it, everyones a winner.....until I want my pre EB back obviously Leaves the wall looking like this The blue SR5 might go if I fall in love with the Classic and I can then be a bit more adventurous, still like the look of them Jabba5 classics or maybe something totally different but 5 string for sure?
14.
Pete - we have the same yearning for the Musicman signature tone...I've often tried either A) giving up and just keeping what I've got or B ) looking at fairly exotic but 'same old Leo design' Jazz 5ers. I come back to the Musicman basses....every time. Yes, a cutom builder can get very close with similar pups/positions/EQ...but, and this is the big but, only a Musicman sounds like a Musicman. Even the Sandberg basses with the H in the right place sound different....cleaner, more modern, less growl and punch. It's cool to have variety though, I agree, but everytime I hear a Ray, I hear the tone I wanted from when I was 11/12 years old listening to lots of different genre's yet still have that Musicman tone. Incredibly distinctive. It's quite easy to mimic a 60s/70s Jazz tone...but I've yet to hear anything sound like a Ray. It is, in my opinion, the best bass tone. Closely followed by a P bass, and then the Jazz.
Well you will like my next post then.......
15.
But I really think you should keep it. And you know I'm right.
Too late!
16. I went through this yesterday, not very clear is it! Just go to the donations link (where we used to chuck a few quid in the pot after a sale/trade) thats why I never looked there, nor are you making a donation are you but hey ho thats the place to click and pay your fees, also someone said If you start filling in a for sale thread it will guide you through but I never tried that way ,best of luck
17.
You should keep your rays IMHO - if that's the bass sound you hear in your head then nothing else will suffice! The classic 5, if the 4 is anything to go by, will be stunning. My 4 has TI flats - and I still managed to get a decent sound for aeroplane by RHCP in a gig last week - it even surprised me - then back to the thud for some Beatles covers!!
I think maybe you are right, if only they made a proper pre EB 5 string I would be set!
Why look at those when you can try the 5-string Lull T-Bass or one of the 5-string Lightwaves?
Well maybe once I have done phase 1 of my master plan I will be more open to some left wing ideas (compared to the boring old Leo designs), again watch this space
18. There was a thread a while ago and most of the SUBs checked were series, Jose has at some point owned most of them since
19. Just switched over now ta, Dick Dale with his left handed right hand strung strat
20. The ones with the springy grip ring ruin your bass and amp at the same time! Mate of mine has a tasty mesa head that can only be used with those leads now, utter cack.
21. Some people had faulty preamps on early ones and got sent new preamps by thomann so there must be loads of spare volume pots on boards people have kept, if only there was a way of contacting someone with one! Fwiw you can't have mine
22. The pots will have dates on Jose, something like 1377 on all of them then the year ie 137706
23. Possibly something in the pipeline, no fat lady singing yet though so you will all have to wait! I will have a listen Mcnach tomorrow and I will keep you updated on the pre eb if things go that way
24. I was actually on the phone to EBS Freak earlier who has a few GB basses, he said Bernie would make me a Spitfire with a MM pickup in the MM spot if I wanted!
