+1. Clutch have had some decent support artists over the years, but this just seems like an easy fix to me. Two supports both of which only have a drummer and a guitarist. Kind of get it on the level that the origins of ‘stoner rock’ are on Clutch’s DNA, but they have moved on somewhat now.

I'm going to see Clutch again tomorrow in Brixton. I've just looked up the support acts. I don't think I'll bother getting there to see them if this is the best they have to offer....
Admittedly chosen at random on You Tube, but neither video predisposed me to put myself through another.
Have they been with Clutch on all the UK dates? Anyone fancy trying to change my mind about either of them?

I think following certain / famous setlists would be very authentic. 👍
May I suggest a few props as well? A chair, some ropes, and an enormous glass spider, for instance. 😁
The table and chair from the '96 Outside Tour are on the list as well as the giant eyeballs, the smaller projected heads and roped mannequins. I think we'll have to draw a line at the giant glass spider. I don't think that will fit in the van!

100% Warren, I certainly do agree it’s very different to all the other Rays I’ve played. The strings going through the pole pieces rather than over them gives such a different flavour, and the different pre amp and EQ is spot on. Genuinely gutted to sell it.
I remembered seeing your Smoothie and you sounding great on a CTB video but I couldn’t find the link, I wanted to share it with @wayne58 when he was asking me about the Smoothie.
Im mystified too that it hasn’t sold 🤔
Needs must of course Daniel, but it saddens me that you’ve had to keep dropping the price. Might be worth waiting until 2019 as it’s fully on silly season now.
If it helps, I’ve pasted the link to the thread you were probably looking for below. The lastest video is the Smoothie in ‘slap’ mode on Ashes to Ashes.

That Darkglass produces a nice deep sound. Its not what i was expecting from it. Very nice.
Dave
I have to say that the Smoothie plays a big part in that deep sound you hear in Moonage Daydream.
It is genuinely quite unlike any other Stingray I own - and I have a few!
I’m sure @Chiliwailer would agree. All the more mystifying as to why his hasn’t sold yet, especially at that price.

That's quite a thunderous tone there. Loving that. What gear are you using here. Looks like Musicman bass into amp ? and barefaced cab maybe ?
Dave
Thank you kindly.
The signal path is Musicman Stingray Old Smoothie > Darkglass Microtubes 900 > Barefaced Big Twin Generation III & DI'd to FOH (post effect). Nothing active on my board for this song.

Great set list. Moonage Daydream is a great song for bass playing and i noted that's on the to do list.
Dave
The long list a couple posts up are songs already in play. Yes, Moonage is a great song to do 😀

Fantastic set list and a few i don't recognise.
I'll be keeping an eye out for you guys up here.
I do Jean Genie and Rebel Rebel in our Glam Rock covers band and i just love doing Trevor Bolders bass lines plus the songs are just so rewarding to play and they give you that little lift when finished.
Great stuff and long may your success continue.
Dave
Thanks Dave. Would be great to see you guys at a gig or two. Just trying to arrange a venue up near Cromer, Norfolk for next year and we’ve already had an invite back to Witney, Oxfordshire to play Fat Lil’s, so we’re beginning to spread ourselves a bit further.
Although we should probably save it until the 20th anniversary in 2020, one idea we’ve had for next year is to play the whole of the (soon to be officially released) Glastonbury 2000 set. Just need to learn Hallo Spaceboy and we’re there!

Oh man where is Panic In Detroit? My first band got me to do this after only learning bass about 6 months previous. Its been stuck in my head ever since lol!!
Well, exactly. So many songs still to do. Panic In Detroit is on the to do list, but your guess is as good as mine as to when it comes round.

As another year comes to an end, the inevitable set adjustments for next year are being discussed once again.
Looking back at page one of this thread, on one hand we've come so far since those first ten songs, yet I feel we're still barely scratching the surface of the Bowie cannon. There are so many iconic songs still to do, yet maintaining the balance between the old, the new, the expected and personal favourites is a tricky one. We've tried to address specific song requests as we go along to keep our regulars happy, but the bigger the repertoire, the harder it is to put a set together - and there's still more to do. Very much a first world problem and not a bad one to solve really. I'll never get bored of playing this stuff. I just hope the punters never get bored of listening.
Anyway, this is what the list has expanded to from those ten songs:
Absolute Beginners
Afraid
All The Young Dudes
Andy Warhol
Ashes to Ashes
Blue Jean
Boys Keep Swinging
Breaking Glass
Changes
China Girl
Cracked Actor
Dead Man Walking
Drive In Saturday
Fame
Fashion
Five Years
Golden Years
Heroes
Hurt
I'm Afraid of Americans
The Jean Genie
John, I'm Only Dancing
Jump They Say
Lazarus
Let's Dance
Life On Mars?
Little Wonder (in progress)
Look Back In Anger
Loving The Alien
The Man Who Sold The World
The Man Who Sold The World (Lulu version)
Modern Love
Moonage Daydream
New Killer Star
Oh! You Pretty Things (in progress)
Quicksand
Rebel Rebel
Sound and Vision
Space Oddity
Starman
The Stars (Are Out Tonight)
Station to Station
Stay
Suffragette City
Under Pressure
Valentine's Day (in progress)
What In The World
Wild Is The Wind
Ziggy Stardust

The latest from our recent gig at Brentwood Theatre. Bit of a signature song for us this, since our lead made it to the final of 'Stars In Their Eyes' with it. We used the 'Bowie at the Beeb' performance from 27/6/2000 as a template for this version.

Good idea - I just found how how inaccurate my bathroom scales were - kitchen scales much better but not as easy to use with a bass!
My bathroom scales are the opposite to the kitchen ones. They won't register a single ounce unless the weight is 11 pounds or more. Not much use for basses. Not the ones I like anyway. I think I used them once when I sold my Alembic 😂

Bought! Thanks for that! No more weigh me with/without shenanigans!
Ha ha. Yes, I bet there are a few of us that have done the little hop on/hop off the scales dance. 'Tis now a thing of the past. This beauty weighs up to 50kg.

I use my kitchen scales!
Very accurate and go up to 5kg
That would be a MASSIVE cake!!
Ours max out at a little less than that. On the odd occasion I've been caught in the act by Mrs.H weighing something for eBay, £7.59 became an acceptable alternative.
-
Not that many Basschatter's move any of their instruments on that often 🙄, but on the rare occasion a new For Sale thread appears, the question of weight rears it's ugly head with alarming regularity.
I have just purchased this for £7.59 through Amazon (along with at least £12.41 worth of other assorted ephemera in order to qualify for free shipping ) and it is rather spiffing - and accurate.
It does ounces, grams, pounds and kilos and has a nice soft noose for hanging a bass from the headstock. Just thought I would share.

Here's one from our most recent outing to a new (for us) venue in Brentwood, Essex.
There was only one place I could put the camera unfortunately, but we did take sound from the desk, so at least we've been able to mix it properly, which kinda makes up for it a bit.

Witney? Five miles down the road, Corn Exchange or Fat Lils?
It's another one from the Witney Music Festival in August.

The Brentwood gig is taking forever to get mixed properly, so here's another one from Witney....

This is the web site by the way.

Does anyone’s band use liv.live for getting gigs, or have you used them in the past?
Any experiences good or bad would be useful.

Nice, but for £550 list I would expect them to make me a cup of tea and plump my cushions before I sit down to listen.
Yes, I wouldn’t have stretched that far, but £330 for £615 worth of kit seemed like a good deal to me. It does make you wonder what improvement there can be in their top of the line £3,500.00 sets though. I don’t think I’ll ever get to find out 😀

So, my old headphones finally went kaput. To be fair, they had served me very well over many years, but I was more than a little disappointed when the headband snapped as I was quite attached to them. They were light, comfortable and sounded quite good - or so I thought.
I then set about looking for a new set. I use headphones quite a lot listening to music on the desktop and also for mixing audio for videos, so I wanted something fairly decent. I stumbled across a review for a particular make which I thought were a bit overpriced for headphones, but other similarly positive reviews drew me further in. So much so, that I kind of justified in my mind buying a set of the MKIII version, even though the price point was £300+. On the off chance, I thought I would look on eBay and see if I could shave a bit off that price. I managed to find the set pictured, which are the MKVI’s and retail at £550, for the same price as the MKIII’s. The bonus was the seller was close to me and agreed we could meet up so I could try them first. They also came with the 3m extension (£65 apparently).
Anyway, I picked them up yesterday. I must admit, I always thought this hi-if geek stuff was a bit Emperor’s New Clothes. I now stand corrected. These headphones are unbelievably articulate. I’m hearing music that I’ve listened to thousands of times through various systems in a whole new light. I’m just dumbfounded at how good they are.
This is them. Final Audio Sonorous VI. If you’re looking for a new pair, the Sonorous range starts about £260. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Another theatre gig at the weekend just gone. We recorded audio from the desk at this one so will be able to mix it properly before editing it to the video from the Zoom. Only one camera for this gig unfortunately, positioned stage left.
We also employed a pro photographer as it was the first gig with our new keys player and we wanted some decent up to date photo's.
Picture Books/Inspector Cluzo 'support' Clutch

Just got home from the gig. I swerved the support acts. Most of the people I spoke with in the pub beforehand were of the same mind, although I did speak to someone inside the venue who said The Picture Books were OK.
The Clutch encores will be posted here in due course.
