2. er, sorry to hijack the thread but will any power amp work with a POD/Bass VT front end? Are there specific bass power amps? I've just got a 900w 6x10 @ 4-ohms, could anyone suggest a suitable amp? Cheers, Ben!

4.
You jammy bastard. £350, for that?
I know, I was in college when it ended, so happily suprised when I got out. They get great reviews and the spec looks good. Think I might get a power amp and Bass VT - keep it simple.
5. Well, it seemed I was the only person interested in the Genz Benz 6x10 on ebay. At £350, it cant be bad! Just need a head/power amp to drive it now...
6. I must admit that I've bought and sold far too much stuff over the last 2 years but the one stand out rig was my SVT-CL and 410HLF. It's the only thing that came close to the sound you hear on just about every rock album. Fat and warm or driven and dirty, it sounded amazing. Shame I had to sell it.

8. heh, I'd love to commission a (semi-)custom cab, but I cant afford it at the moment. I'll have to scour the 2nd hand market for the time being...
9. Yeah! Kyuss are a great example. Down in C through Ampeg VT-22's, VT-40's and V-4's through Ampeg bass cabs. I think the tube amps might be the key to the tone, the cabs for the bottom end.
10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genz-Benz-6x10-XB2-B...1QQcmdZViewItem I take it this would do the trick? Anyone used one of these cabs?
11.
Dammit Ben, you go through gear like it's going out of fashion! If I'd seen that head, a trip through the tunnel would've been on the cards, I could do with a spare for my Ampeg. Oh well, have a 'gutted I missed it' bump from me
Hi Mike, you're not wrong. It does my head in to be honest, I just cant stop thinking the grass is greener! That and my constantly changing financial situation dictate my gear changing habbits. I hope that one day soon, I'll be sorted for good!
12. 4 tins of Helden Brau Super on their way to that man!
13. There goes the head. Who needs a cheap, built-like-a-tank 4x10?!
14. Ok, a cheque's on it's way for the 115, just the head and 4x10 to go...!
15.
Hi Ben, Could you measure the Width and Depth of the 15 please. Cheers, Stuart
Hi Stuart, I think I have a sale pending from an enquiry made when I first listed the amp in the ebay section. If that falls through, I'll let you know the dimensions. Cheers, Ben.
16. Ah yes, pictures! The Hartke: A couple of the 15": The Peavey's up at the practice room, but I'm sure you all know the deal with that.
17. Recently sold this on ebay but I've had all sorts of problems with the buyer, so we've voided that transaction as it were. I've had a bit of interest about the LH500 and the 115, so could those still interested send me a PM. Ok, aquired this cheap stack while not playing with a band, but I've just joined a band and started gigging so looking for something a little different. The head is a Hartke LH500 - 2/3 months old, valve pre-amp, simple eq, 500 watts @ 4 ohms. Extremely loud and easy to use, getting very good reviews despite it's cheap price. As new condition. SALE PENDING Peavey 410TVX - 350 watts @ 8 ohms, 4x10, well made as you'd expect from Peavey. Great condition, just one dink on the top rear edge which isnt noticable with the head on top. £100+shipping Loud Inc. 115 - 350 watts @ 8 ohms, 1 x 15, works well with the 4 x 10 to give some extra bottom end. Light enough to carry with one hand. Again, good condition. This is slightly shallower than the Peavey but the rubber feet on the Peavey stick over the edge of the cab making it secure enough to gig with (or you could stick the 15 on top!) It's also dark grey but looks fine with the rest. SALE PENDING £350 the lot collected. All in all, a 500 watt rig for very little money. Excellent first giging rig. For petrol money, I can also drop it off within an hour and a half of Liverpool. Any questions, let me know. Cheers, Ben.
18. We use a Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 i/o. It's excellent, easy to use and it sounds good too. Doesnt work properly in Vista though, loose "Sync" all the time but to be honest, I dual boot an extremely stripped out copy of XP on my Laptop and it works seamlessly on that. I'm running a C2D 2.1, 3GB, 2 x 160GB 7200RPM HDDs and we can record 8 tracks simultaneously with about 40-50% cpu load. Edit: Cost us £200 unused 2nd hand.
19. 8x10s are easier to move then 4x10s as long as they have slide rails. The 410HLF I had was the most awkward, really low centre of gravity and so heavy.
20. Thanks for the input, I'll track some 5/6 string players down.
21. That's another consideration. Something solidstate - due to the amount of cash I have. Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions. I've had an SVT-2-Pro, SVT-CL, GK RB2000 and the Hartke LH500. The only amp that blew me away was the CL, but after my experiences recently, I'm looking for something with plenty of head room! I was considering the Poweramp/preamp option using something like a Sansamp BDDI or Bass VT as a front end with my P and T-40, I dont need to vary my sound much...
22. That's down in C? I'm a little wary of the Warwick cabs, especially the 611 as they seem to go really cheap on here and ebay (no offence intended!). I do like the shape of the 6x10s though.
23. As I've mentioned on my sale thread, I'm moving my "cheap" rig on because at any sort of usable volume, it just cant handle the low C. We've got a fairly loud drummer and the guitarist plays through an Orange Rockerverb 50 combo + 2x12 cab, so it's proving difficult to cut through down the bottom end. My question is, what should I be looking at to handle the low C at high volume? 2 x 4x10s, 2x15, 6x10, 8x10? There's some Aguilar GS410s being bandied about on a thread which I've registered an interest in, at 700rms each, they should be able to handle the volume, no? Any advice is appreciated. Cheers, Ben.
