I'd say this was at least 90% the venue's fault. Ridiculous, booking an "electric" band to play when you've got a birthday in for 16 people when it looks cramped to begin with, then seating them just in front of where the band hope to set up/play?! I'd be livid. It's hard enough setting up for gigs as it is, getting the sound right, concerning yourselves with "the right set list" etc... Granted, I wouldn't speak to customers in the way the letter suggests, but again, they could be using that to further their claim/complaint. I think the management need to have a think before making their bookings, both for customers and bands. -
Cab has been traded, nice one Pete! Head is sold, pending all that money stuff. -

Got that, 6-months-time-for-a-change, type feeling I regularly get... Got a 6 month old Bass Terror 500, with the box and bag. In tip-top condition, gigged about 25 times with no issues apart from the little Orange power lamp has stopped working, although a quick google revealed that it might just need re-seating, which I'll try tonight and report back. £360 delivered, £350 collected. [color=#ff0000]Sale Pending.[/color] Tech Soundsystems ND410 - 4x10", 1200watts, 4-ohm, Neo loaded cab in a slightly staggered formation, so it's a bit taller and thinner than a regular 4x10. Very light, I can carry all my kit in one journey. It's in good condition, some scuffs to the grill, but otherwise fine. Comes with a fitted cover for additional protection. [color=#ff0000]SOLD.[/color] I'd be interested in trades as I gig every week, so I will have to replace both bits. Maybe something Ampeg/Markbass for the head and a 4x10/6x10 for the cab in Markbass or similar flavour. I'll get some photos up in a bit.

You can play anything with a groove, as long as you play it tight and well! keep it quiet and you won't damage them, but you also won't get much bass out of a 3" driver...

Oh, it's water off a ducks back, to me. I love this place, the depth of knowledge is outstanding and I'll use and contribute to it as much as possible. The rest of them know full well, because I tell them, that this place has benefited the band financially and operationally on more than one occasion!

My trouble usually starts when we're having a practice and discussing equipment or something else and I say "...the guys on Basschat reckon....". Queue groans and moans...

I get roundly mocked when I mention Basschat, universally - Girlfriend ("...bloody Basschat, stop buying and selling stuff!"), band mates, work colleagues...

How do you guys use Superior Drummer? Do you use the pre-defined loops? Create your own using the "draw" tool? Edit the existing ones? Trigger them with a device? Ta, Ben

Covers bands "openers" what do you start with?

We open with The Chain (all of it!) for our more "classic rock" audiences, and Under the Bridge for the 2nd set or Cochise/Slither for our "heavier" sets, with Watching You by Kiss (although we play the Monkey3 version) for the 2nd set. -

My mate is the bassist in Conan. They're proper doom, barely a distinguishable note played they're tuned so low! Just about to support Sleep in Scandinavia too..

I've got one of these kicking about doing nothing. It's in pretty decent condition, but is used. One of the zips gets stuck on a corner, so I close the zips to that point so they don't stick any more! They're £58 + £6 for postage at GAK. So how does £30 collected and £37 delivered sound? Met Antonio last night and sold him my Jazz Bass, he's a lovely guy, communicates well and I would have no hesitation in taking money from him again in the future!

I'll just qualify out rates, we're a 4 piece and we did start at £200-250 at most of our regular gigs, but we usually bring a crowd (and do increasingly so, locally) and we were getting an extra £50 from the landlord anyway. Now they just pay £300 every time we play and we ask for £300 for new gigs as most are booked on word of mouth reputation from other pubs/bands we know. I think bringing a crowd (where possible) makes a difference, if it's busy and buzzing, landlords get caught up in the moment and pay more. We've just ordered 50 t-shirts to give away to our regular fans, that should ensure they come to our gigs even [i]more[/i] regularly! More fans, more money!
