2. oh oh I'm flying Ryan air soon... off to sunny Italy hey Cloff, leuk je hier te mogen verwelkomen! what is your opinion on the sales of gear in Europe?
3.
OK, here's a question for you. I have friends with a son at your age getting into guitars. They are in the Maastricht area, when I've been there to visit in the past he told me that it's difficult for you there to buy "good" gear, and I didn't see many shops for modern stuff, just plenty of accordians etc. When he decided he wanted a Tele I bought one here & took it over, it was that difficult. So the question is, how do you find getting good equipment, both in having a choice & paying a good price? I've recommended them using Thomann in Germany for future things.
Big Stu, I live in Belgium and can speak for people on the continent. We can get decent gear over here, no probs but in Belgium (and I think that counts for the Netherlands too Cloff?) you will have to pay a lot or Euros for it. Our resort is buying stuff in Germany, which got easier thanks to the internet shops (but then again do you want to buy a bass thru the internet?) I can give you an example of a recent buy I did: I bought a MCB410 Marshall cab via collegues from the UK. That costed me 234 pounds with free delivery into the UK. So I got it delivered at a family members address of a collegue of mine here at work. With the pound at an acceptable rate (back in february). So converting this value I got this for 290 Euros (that includes the incredible rate of the bank transfer arrrgggghhh ) in total If I would buy this in Germany it'd be 399 Euros, in Belgium I guess it'd go towards 450 Euros Also the second hand market has serious price differences as obviously we want a fair bit of the money back on what we had spent on this kind of gear. Yes as an european I'd say buy in the UK if you can! Mind you mailing amps cost a fortune...
4. I LOVE prog for it drove me into Punk Rock with a passion from day 1 on. But seriously King Crimson is one of my favourite bands, especially the John Wetton Era. I also liked some Canterbury stuff, or is that to be classified as Jazz Rock Fusion? Here's a link if you not already explored that one... 6.
Scratchy pots and sliders is usually nothing a good squirt of contact cleaner won't fix, Baskesman. I need to take mine for a service soon as well, and from the looks of it, it's the first one it ever had...
Thanks Razze
7. I think there are specific microphones that do not (or in a lesser extend) record the surrounding (car) noises, but only the direct sound of your speakers. If you can put the mic as close to your cab, streetnoise might have less interferences in the recording? just like burrito, I also use an amp moduler to records at home, because of recording at night when the family is at sleep...
8. don't know about the Mk4, but my mk3 has one handle on ther side. something else: scrachy noise from pregain and EQ knobs (especially the paramid!) and sliders (mids again)... can I solve this myself, I have never opened an amp myself...??? Need advise.
9. I'm in, I'm in :-) just got a 400B Mk 3 head!
10.
Welcome. Hey, if the gear you've got does what you need then it makes no difference whether it's budget or high end. Be happy . Many of us spend our playing lives looking for the supposed "perfect" sound
Thanks That's right! I'm VERY happy with my cheap Jazzbass!
11. Truss rod access and bridge as many already quoted. Also I'd love to see the P-pups move more towards the bridge and add a JB pup near the neck.
12. Hi all, I have been nosing around on this forum for a while and hadn't said hello as yet. I'm located in Belgium and have been playing bass on and (more) off the last 25 years. Most of the time I've been doing guitarjobs in bands, but gladly returned to the bassposition in a current band. It is amazing how I kept the progress of playing abilities down to a minimum, being a top requirement when playing in hardcore punk acts.. I use low budget gear only for now, who knows I'll strike a great deal here for better equipement Anyway, budget gear does not mean bad sound at all.
13. If you sell rather than trade, let me know!
14. Bump for a fantastiq EQ setting, I use this too, at least ZERO mids, rest a tiny bit more V shaped. I didn't know Harris a or anyone else used this...
15. Pete Wright Both Grant and Phil of the Subhumans Colonel Blimp ...
