hello all,
anyone out there played a rees f-light bass, or know much about them?
im currently playing an olp mm copy, and have decided that when im worthy of
getting something better id really like to support our flagging economy and buy
a home made bass thats not as heavy, the olp weighs in at around 5.5 kg
does a bass need to be so heavy?? ace site btw

Haven't heard of the rees before, but if you're interested in buying British there's also Everson guitars, which have earned some good reports.

Certainly worth a look

cheers

Welcome to BassChat!
Unfortunately, UK-produced basses aren't necessarily cheap.
Fortunately, there ARE some excellent Luthiers and Manufacturers out there.
Shuker
Iceni/Zoot
ACG
RIM
GB
Status
Wal
Enfield
Fret-King
Gus
Sei
Overwater
and so on.

Light? British? Status Streamline all the way, provided you can live with lots of carbon graphite and headlessness!
If you do approach a Luthier, expalin that you'll be wanting a lighter weight bass. Might limit your timber choices a little - Maple bodies might be out, for example.

Another is Ruach at

They have a huge table of different woods and combinations along with various shapes etc. I'm sure they'll make whatever you want, reasonable too. A friend has one, its an absolute work of art in the flesh, beautiful.

Welcome. Lots of good british makers, although the problem with ordering a 'special' you cannot try before you buy and what looks great on paper may not necessarily be great when completed - how many threads have there been on good and bad Fenders - the same model from the same year! I custom ordered twice - one a success and one a total failure and I doubt if I would do that again.
