solo4652 Posted May 17, 2010 Share Posted May 17, 2010 Hi, I have my eye on a Stingray clone, mainly for use as a cheap-but-good rehearsal and "beater" bass. It's passive, and that's how I'd keep it. I'm looking for a deep, rich, full tone without it being too thumpy or indistinct, maybe with the option of series/parrallel switching to give some tonal options. I've got Delano MM Pickups in my Shuker and Sandberg and would highly recommend them, although they're not the cheapest option. I had one and put a Nordstrand in it. I couldn't wait to get the Wilkinson one back on - the Nordstrand sounded really boring, for want of a better word - dull, flat, uninteresting.
