S9 serial number however as you know these serial numbers were used for the 80/81 basses too. Mine has an s8 serial & came with ashtrays and a black pickup cover. I suspect yours is an '82 or 83 as it has the white pickup cover and doesn't look like it has been drilled for the ashtrays.
