How do I upload large photos into a post?

Hi folks

Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but when I upload pics into threads on BC they always come out very small, requiring you folks to click on them to get a decent view. This of course makes me feel very inadequate in comparison with the guys who have nice big pics in their posts, so please help me feel less inadequate :)

Personally, I'd rather have the thumbnails and have to click-for-bigger rather than have massive pictures take up all room in the thread. Especially if there's lots of pictures, and doubly so if people are having a thick moment and quote the bloody pictures.

However. Upload to photobucket/flickr/imageshack/a server of choice and slap the image within a <img> tag set and you can post full size ones.

When the thumbnail is only 100x75px and the full-size image is 23098098x10923840px, neither is really satisfactory. I feel like, by default, all uploaded image should be limited to 1280px on their longest side, and thumbnails should be perhaps a little bigger than they are right now.

S.P.

You get a reasonable sized image in the thread and a larger option if you click on it.[/quote]

Thanks guys. Buzz, point taken, and I've always used small pics, but sometimes only big pics will do.....

True, but bear in mind that most people's screens only run at 1280x1024 so there's really no benefit to uploading a picture at a resolution higher than this.

By which I mean, it's annoying, please don't do it.

er well yeah but bigger than your screen pictures are great for zooming really getting in close.
Eg if someone had a very nice 64 P bass to show off, for example ......

If it's an external one, then in both reply boxes (quick and full) there's a button with this picture, . Click it and you're presented with easy and straight forward box where you paste the url of the image in, BC will generate the code.

If you want to upload them to BC, make sure you do a FULL reply (not quick) and just underneath where you type your reply is a box saying "Attachments". You can then upload an image from your home PC to BC and post it via clicking the browse button on the right and finding the picture you want to upload.
