EOS650 Posted October 13, 2007 Share Posted October 13, 2007 I saw a video hosted on YouTube that someone linked here of a Japanese player (can't remember his name) playing a Bass with a Trem arm on it. I was wondering if this has been done elsewere? I'm assuming it's possible to do this..has anyone had any experiences with this? I know it goes way beyond the need of most bass players, but I like it and can see myself using one. Does the Fender Jaguar bass have one or is this something you'd need to have done custom? Thanks! The most common system for bass is the [url="http://www.kahlerusa.com/home.html"]Kahler[/url] one. Bear in mind though, that your bass will need some routing to accomodate the springs, block and claws, so be sure that you really want it done !! Is the tuning with these things ok? I've seen some pretty nasty stuff written on Harmony Central about them, but it was mainly for 6 string guitar and not bass... dangerboy Posted October 15, 2007 Share Posted October 15, 2007 I've got a Kahler on one of my P-basses (had a fun couple of days routing for it with a dremel). I expected the worst, and the first couple of times i used it I had my tuner on bypass to constantly check the pitch - but in fact it's very stable. It'll go out of tune if you do huge divebombs that slacken the strings, but in normal use it's fine. I just don't worry about it anymore. I liked them so much that I bought a [url="http://tuneguitars.com/store/wizmart.php?code=000101&lv=2"]TWB43[/url] (Bubinga), about 6 weeks ago. (See my avatar too.) But a whammy on an 8-string still seems like a bit of a gimmick to me. PS: Billy Sheehan has a bass with a Kahler whammy, [url="http://www.billysheehan.com/gear/instruments_13.html"]here[/url].
