  1. I've had a similar issue with using guitar pedals with bass. The bottom end is gone. Can an EQ fix that?

  5. I want to take the pick guard off of my Squire jazz. Would that be ok or would it hurt the instrument?
  6. A sort-of old post, but I'll add. Learn all the major notes and know that to the left or to the right is a flat or sharp (Except for B and C and E and F). If you know where an A is you know that A sharp is a half step (1 fret) up. Makes things a little easier.

    Memory man.

    Ok, I have both a Russian Big Muff and I love it, but the memory man sounds so "tinny" it really sucks the low end out, I love what it does so I don't want to get rid of it...I've played it with both the big muff and without. Is there anyway to get some low end back into the mix? EQ?

  12. I'm not sure how many people here listen to My Bloody Valentine, but for those who do, has anyone tried Kevin Shields' guitar techniques on bass? How'd it work out? I'd like to eventually get a trem on my bass for this purpose, but I don't know if it'd be worth it...
  13. Thanks. I wasn't going to do it to my current bass, but eventually buy one for this purpose. Thanks for the link! Is the tuning with these things ok? I've seen some pretty nasty stuff written on Harmony Central about them, but it was mainly for 6 string guitar and not bass... I want to make sure that this trem system won't be more trouble than it's worth...

  15. I saw a video hosted on YouTube that someone linked here of a Japanese player (can't remember his name) playing a Bass with a Trem arm on it. I was wondering if this has been done elsewere? I'm assuming it's possible to do this..has anyone had any experiences with this? I know it goes way beyond the need of most bass players, but I like it and can see myself using one. Does the Fender Jaguar bass have one or is this something you'd need to have done custom? Thanks!

My teacher and I were working on the root 5th thing and I hit a 2nd and he explained that to me...so I am learning.... So, only with "perfect" if you flat them, they become diminished and if they are sharp, it's augmented? With those other intervals, to flat it more than once would be diminished rather than once in the "perfect"? Thanks for your patience!
  17. Thanks! I really need to learn more theory past just 1 3 5 and 1 b3 5.... What is a perfect? With Major intervals, what is bb? I didn't know that notes could be flat twice. Or maybe I'm off again. This thread should be moved to technique and theory..

  22. Well I wasn't going to reply because I've only been playing for a short period of time. But as far as playing and "styles" I like/want eventually to sound like or pick to for my own sound is.. Les Claypool, (whammy bar stuff like in My Bloody Valentine) and it seems like everything I write ends up sounding like one of Mogwai's new tracks. So....yeah, Mogwai? Does anyone know of any basses with a decent trem system? Does the jazz bass have the floating trem and such like the guitar does? Don't mean to hijack the thread.
  23. I saw a Victor Wooten tutorial on YouTube last week and saw him use a chord that looks fairly simple, but I don't know what it is.. I've only been playing bass for 2 months so.... I know that the D is the root and the other is the octave (the "7" in this illustration). By adding the D# ("8") what have I done? Does this chord exist or does it just sound cool? It's a chord isn't it? I might've gotten the fingering wrong from the tutorial, too....
