Sting on Jools Holland- what is this small bodied DB?

Sting is not, and never will be a "twat" when it comes to music. I don't really go for mainstream artists that go all folky (a gross simplification but you know what I mean). He tried some similar stuff on Mercury Falling and it wasn't really to my taste (especially the one that starts off like this and ends in 7/4 with a sax solo!) He's had a very distinguished and successful career in the Police and solo, and as he's not far off 60, I wouldn't expect him to be jumping round the stage to three-chord punk...

At no time did I refer to Mr Sumner as a "twat".

definitely a czech-ease. It's an interesting bass but the question is; Does it have the sound of a double bass and the compactness of an EUB or the sound of an EUB but with the bulk & transport problems of a double?????

It doesn't look that cool but I don't think it was down to the realms of 'twatdom'.

Don't hit me with no negative vibes, baby!

It is a czech-ease bass, and Sting has at least shown a continued desire to grow and explore as a musician through out his career. This song is a very very old traditional folk song, most recently covered by James Yorkston on his new album "Folk Songs". Couldn't make out the bassist but it looked like the guy from Medeski Martin and Wood !

THAT made me look again (being a huge Chris Wood fan). But I don't think it's him - wrong visual style. Could be wrong.

Funnilly enough this review references Chris Wood as a composer http://is.gd/4Ww5F but I think that's Chris Wood the folkie, not Chris Wood the bass player ( http://www.last.fm/music/Chris+Wood/+wiki )

And, yes, I have taken into consideration than Chris Wood (the bassist) plays a Czech-Ease.

Not sure about that, but Chris Wood the folkie is also a pretty good bass player - he was in the Oyster Ceilidh Band for a while before he really got into the fiddle.
