If it's got body binding I'm guessing it's a Roadstar II, maybe like this:

Or maybe the ones at the bottom of this page:

If it's in good nick £220 is probably not unreasonable - even better if they'll haggle!

80s Ibanez probably represent the pinnacle of affordable, original JapCrap & remember these were built by Fujigen Gakki, who at the same time were producing MIJ Fenders. Very good stuff.

If it is one of RB924's /RB950's etc...than as Jon says that's a good price.
Buy it!!!! :)
I've got an '81 RB920 cherry sunburst single pickup version. It's a lovely bass, quite a fast neck & good range of tones.

*Edit: recall another member getting one of these last year http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...adstar&st=0

 Always makes me giggle how "JapCrap" is a term used to exaplin such instruments.
It sounds like an insult but it's not.

Anyways, any Ibanez stuff is worth getting, expacially from the 80's!
If I could afford, I'd love some of the old pre-lawsuit Ibanez Jazz basses. :)

Got a question for you, techies, what exact gauge strings Ibanez BTB's are equipped in factory with? Elixir mediums - .045 .065 .085 .105?

I can't get decent Elixir's in shop, so, I'm thinking of taking them off my friend's BTB, as he doesn't play it at all practically..

I think so.
How long they been on though? They don't dull as much in tone BUT the tension could be fatigued.

Brings back memories of my first good quality bass in 1985! Nice & comfy to play (neck was a dream!)

I had a Black RB750 with Red binding on the body - I later had it defretted by The Bass Centre, & kept it until I ended up trading it in with a Trace rig for a Washburn ABG & a Boss drum machine.

Happy days...

Cheers,

What do you mean by that - fatigued, mate? :)

They've been on BTB for about 8-9 months, or so, I believe, but they we practically untouched..

Hope, their tension isn't very harsh, as I'm looking for quite soft-tension ones..

It's not far off it - the headstock is a lot "smoother" shape wise from my one & the hardware's a different colour.
