Nordstrand 51 Split-J 4 Set £100 posted £100 Welwyn, Hertfordshire

I wanted to fit these to an FGN jazz bass because I love the 51 P tone. 

However, I don’t have as much experience of upgrading as I thought, and didn’t realise J pickups come in slightly different sizes. Subsequently, the neck pickup case has some marks and filing around the ears because it’s slightly larger than the cavity on my bass.

 

They also need a bass with a more curved radius - the inner pole pieces are raised slightly.

Are both PUPs the same size?

No - there’s a neck and bridge

I think there’s some variation in Fender pickup sizes - some are the same length (long-long), but most are short-long like these.

I nearly bought a pair of these a few years back, read the marketing and decided not to  

 

I imagine they're a bloody great way of getting that classic '51/'53/'55 tone out of a Jazz though, so still very tempted
