•  Body: mahogany not sure of the top wood but it’s lovely

See summary on Magentics (courtesy of Grok):

Magnetics™ Pickups is an Italian company based in Rome, specializing in handcrafted magnetic pickups for electric guitars and basses, both passive and active models. They also offer onboard preamps, electronic accessories, and related gear.

Their products include vintage-inspired designs like the PAF 57.61 (Alnico II humbuckers recreating classic ’50s/’60s PAF tones), P90-style pickups (e.g., Extended series), single coils, and bass pickups. They emphasize high-quality materials, scatterwinding techniques (where applicable), and customization options. The company sells directly through their website (magneticspickups.com), with discounts for private buyers and special pricing for luthiers/resellers.

Reviews and Reputation

User feedback (from forums like TalkBass, Reverb listings, and Italian music sites like Mercatino Musicale) is generally positive for an artisan brand:

•  Players praise the vintage accuracy, clarity, and warmth — especially in humbuckers and P90s.

•  They offer good dynamics and low noise in active models.

•  Build quality is solid, with hand-made attention to detail typical of Italian boutique makers.

•  Some users compare them favorably to mid-tier brands like Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio for tone, but at potentially lower prices direct from the source.

•  Drawbacks mentioned occasionally include limited international distribution (mostly Europe/Italy) and fewer widespread pro endorsements compared to bigger names.

They’re popular among Italian luthiers and custom guitar builders. If you’re into vintage-voiced pickups with a modern twist or need onboard preamps for active setups, they’re worth checking out — especially if you want something “Made in Italy” from a smaller operation.

The bass comes with a generic gig bag and I have a box so can ship. The price excludes all shipping.
I prefer a sale but I might be tempted with a nice 5 strings. I have taken the first steps to resuming playing following a stroke but alas, six strings is beyond me now. I would never sell this bass otherwise!IMG_0900.thumb.jpeg.8c5a220fc7f5e7c64af0f35a1907f7b2.jpegIMG_0899.thumb.jpeg.13022e9289a6b932a739175a70cca5a9.jpegIMG_0898.thumb.jpeg.d31c41af1c7096ea5820310b9da15d92.jpegIMG_0874.thumb.jpeg.a41909bb975ff94909bcfe5bb913815b.jpegIMG_0873.thumb.jpeg.d50c823a68c5e1a3ba5cbdef81247335.jpegIMG_0872.thumb.jpeg.f780cf100e9fdb087d548ef7226819fa.jpegIMG_0871.thumb.jpeg.2a66360221899099d92afc3d7f543bea.jpegIMG_0870.thumb.jpeg.18a80268dd39dadb977993fdcb0149d1.jpeg

Hi, bit confused with this post.  Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like a Status Energy 6 string, not an Eclipse. In fact, it looks just like the one you advertised in 2019, listed as an Energy Artiste.

The internet is forever!

I forgot about that post which was just after I bought it. I was convinced that it was a Status energy but I asked AI to identify it and for many reasons it said it wasn’t. Moral of the story, don’t trust AI. I will withdraw it tomorrow and relist when I have sorted. Thank for that. Regards David

Yes the specifications are all wrong. It is definitely a wooden neck and AI is actually not intelligent….nice bass though! 🙂

AI is not a useful tool where you ask it for granular detail on extremely niche topics. It doesnt know how to say 'Sorry, I'm not sure about that, please can you provide more context to guide me' and will spit out whatever it thinks is right positioning it as being factually correct - which it often isn't! The more detailed your prompt into AI, with as much context as possible, will provide a far better response, but still not one to be blindly trusted!

However - I have (albeit briefly) played this bass while collecting another bass from David a year or so ago as it is a lovely thing! 😊
