Roger2611 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hi, Just a quick question, does anyone recall if the Musicman USA sub bass was ever available as a fretless, I have a vague feeling I have seen one for sale many years ago but that might have been a conversion? I have both the active and passive fretted versions, I absolutely love them, they are my favourite MM basses and would like to add a fretless if they were ever available! Cheers Rog Quote
CPCustomdubwise Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hi Rog, I had, for some years, a fretless USA Sub. I bought it off here, as I recall. But it was a conversion. Perhaps it was this one that you saw? I have no recollection of seeing a factory fretless from this series, but others may have more info. Cheers Crispin 1 Quote

Cheers Rog I've never seen one, if you're really on the case however try asking on Talkbass or the Ernie Ball Forums. Good luck....... 1 Quote
Steve Browning Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I have a Sterling by Music Man SUB fretless - a conversion from a fretted (by having a fretless fingerboard installed). Sounds amazing with the Retrovibe preamp and Nordstrand pickup. 1 Quote

Nice, I have a black fretted one with the Retrovibe preamp and a Seymour Duncan pickup, I like it and gigged it a lot but nothing sounds as good as those USA sub's! I have bitten the bullet and brought a rare white one which has already had the neck stripped of paint, I am going to get that converted to a fretless if I can find someone to put a new board on it or do a really nice defret if they can make it look pretty much unlined and with the dots hidden, I am sure I will find a luthier who can do it.
