  1. I'm not sure that this adds any value to the conversation, but I have a dog that is really good at catching mice. I was about to apologise for being pedantic, and then remembered which thread I'm on......
  2. Hiya Thanks. If they don't I definitely will (I checked with thoss nice people/algorithms at the bank. Cheers Crispin
  3. Hi Woodster, Am very seriously interested in this bass. Just need to work out some finances(and ultimately flog some stuff) but wondering if you could place it on hold. As I say, I am genuinely interest and will confirm one way or the other asap. Cheers Crispin
  4. I find that spine-tinglingly, almost obscenely, gorgeous. And I echo the point made by our esteemed colleague: In particular, the cavity excavated just beside the pickguard, above the control plate in the pics.
  5. Billy Zoom from X. He decided to do this onstage and never stopped....think he is still smiles like this to this day. Saw them live a few times....totally bloody terrifying face !!! Sometimes NOT smiling is a far more reassuring option
  6. Bought Steve's BB350f. One way and another (my work.....his work...a juggernaut blocking the M6....) it took ridicilously long for me to collect it and pay the man. He was patient and endlessly helpful thoughout. Great bass too, and a great price. Great basschatter!! Can't recommend highly enough. Cheers mate. Crispin
  7. Dominic Aitchison, Mogwai.... big beard, big Gibson, big noise....
  8. Just wondering when people stopped "making" basses (and similar stuff) and started "building" them.... I realise this is a vanishingly trivial thing in a world apparently heading to hell in a handcart, but on a dull February morning these things can start to itch....
  9. (Belatedly...) Mick bought my Status Stingray neck. Throughout he was courteous and communicative and he helped make everything very straightforward. Great guyvtobdeal with. Cheers Crispin
  10. I think this suggestion is bordering on genius!! The old rockist cliche of a fag shoved behind the E string is tired and so passe.... Doctor J's idea is forward looking and, with the option of the vegan variety, inclusive and environmentally aware too. Hail the new Rock'n'sausageRoll !!
  11. I am confused.... see previous post, above.
  12. So you've not really given the idea of a signature bass much thought, then?
  13. Interesting....or maybe interested... Given the initial snide remarks, I am just wondering,Nilorius, whether the english you are using to contribute on here is your first language?
  14. Also done. All the best with your project.
  15. Genuinely not an arsey question, although it might seem so..... but how have you decided which one is doing which job?
  16. Oh god yes, should have remembered this one.... There always seems to be one on duty...they must have a roster, and access to our diary.....and a fervent belief that they provide the key thing that's missing.
  17. 1) Almost everything. 2) Other people finding this to be an unreasonable proposition.
  18. I read somewhere (I think Bassist magazine) many years ago, probably at the time that they were marketing the Punisher bass, that one of GS's pet peeves was asymmetric basses..... Odd choice for a sig, then?
  19. This just serves to remind me why these are my two favourite bass guitar sounds... Both sound great; different but so useable. Voted for the Stingray just to maintain the balance...
  20. Recently bought Dave's Allparts J neck. The quality of the neck was a given, but the condition was better than described and the comms, packing etc was exemplary. Dave was also extremely patient as I pratted around a bit getting back to him. Very nice bloke and a totally reliable seller. Cheers Dave.
  21. Hi Morten, As a less-frequent contributor here, let me join the welcome I am sure you will receive from many. With regard to your post, my response is that, with genuine respect, you seem very concerned with the opinions of others about YOUR sound and style....but these things are yours. I am not suggesting we never seek the approval of others, because we know that we often do, but not to the point that it seems to be affecting you. You like your Modulus, so use it when you want to. The only people who even notice such things will be fellow musicians and producers (and probably a minority even of those)....audiences won't notice or care to know...they will hear music, part of which will be in the lower register, and they won't be analysing it. Your fellow musicians will surely prefer that you play in a way that ensures you are comfortable and confident with your instrument, your sound. I have several electric basses and use synth and sequenced bass sounds and a double bass as well...but that is to get texture and expression as a part of the music I am attempting to make...I try to communicate something, but certainly not that I am complying with rigid orthodoxies. If you feel that constrained by the circumstances in which you are making music, it may be worth thinking about changing those circumstances? Cheers Crispin
  22. I agree with the earlier comment that neither sounds "better.....just different", at least in the context of these mixes. The exceptions to this are the section where you use a pick, though; the Yamaha sounds actually better to me when using a pick and the Stingray sounds better on the pulls. Otherwise, they were a selection of great bass sounds and some nice playing.
  23. 1) Real, actual free time 2) The ability to overcome dithering and procrastination.
  24. Are you standing there, a furtive, shifty look on your face.... are you scratching in an agitated fashion at the backs of your hands.... Have you suddenly noticed a space in your rack that you hadn't noticed before.....
