I'm not a classical guitarist. However I do love noodling on a nylon strung acoustic. Many years ago we bought my son a classical guitar, which he barely played but I loved. He took it away to university. After missing it for 12 months or so I've finally treated myself.

It's only a cheap one - a Martinez SM-80 that I picked from Ebay. It's a few years old but I don't think it's really been out of the packaging. I've had it a week or two and have just this evening fitted a new set of strings (D'Addario Pro-ArtƩ EJ-45).

I rarely pick up a guitar at home normally but I've not been able to put this one down.

Nice šŸ‘. Anyone who can play the guitar at all should have a nylon strung one in the house. I finally bought one a couple of years ago, after decades of not owning one and it’s the guitar I pick up the most.

I have one of those crazy Yamaha silent classical guitars, beautiful quality, perfect for noodling, I've always had a classical guitar of some sort knocking about for some strange reason. I tend to write a lot of bass lines on it simply because it's the instrument I noodle on the most.

When working out the bass lines for various covers, I’ll often reach for the classical guitar as it sits next to the computer and is less faff than plugging the bass in, turning the amp on, etc and its tone just seems to work for this purpose, like a bass but an octave up.

My oldest lad has a nylon strung 3/4 size which he learned on before moving up to electric. Been in its case for ages. But we took it camping in the summer as it’s nice and small and it was perfect for campfire noodling.Ā
