Hey, everybody.

My name’s Otis. I currently live in Indiana in the United States.

I’ve played guitar since I was 13. I’m 50 now. Really gotten into bass in the last decade.
I have five bass guitars. Here they are in the order I got them:

Douglas WVEB violin bass

SX Ursa 1 w/ Fender American Pro II neck and SD Quarter Pound pickups

G&L L2000 Tribute

Fender American Professional II Precision

Danelectro Longhorn

I think the bass chat community is a lot more mature than talk bass.

Interesting.  It seems like members that post regularly on the " How Was Your Gig Last Night" thread seem to be around my age (71). Consequently our histories and experiences have many similarities. I have more in common with you guys than my bandmates that are 35 years younger than me.

It's no secret that my gigging experiences here in the States parallel many of you guys.

For the record I’m bucking the age trend away from “a large serving of years” At a mere 56 marking me out as a mere stripling

That sounds like an admirable mix, I’m glad that you’ve walked away from “The Dark Side” to the path of the righteous man (or woman)

bass is like musical glue, without it music would fall apart but guitards don’t get that

Oh I still play guitar. I love both. Hell, I can get behind any instrument in the right place in a song, but I can only passably play a few.
