Jus Lukin Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Hello, Does anyone know if the TonePrint module in the BH250 is placed in the circuit before or after the EQ section, and whether it can be edited via laptop nowadays? Thanks Quote
Chienmortbb Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I have no idea but am answering to bump the question to the top of the pile. Quote
42Hz Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Neither with the app, nor with PC via USB is it possible for me to edit the toneprints in the unit. Quote

Seems an egregiously missed opportunity there, especially if the block is placed post EQ. Quote
42Hz Posted July 25 Posted July 25 No document on signal chain but the way it reponds to tone knobs indicates (to me) that the toneprint is before eq. 1 Quote
Jus Lukin Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Thanks again 42hz! What I need to consider is that for convenience I already regularly use a couple of built in one-knob comps which are fine when fine will do. I've read good things about the default Spectracomp print, too, although I've also read some of the dumbest conceptualisations of compression on bass forums! That a fully configurable digital three-band compressor, accessible by USB and with an existing editing program, produced by one of the world's largest music equipment manufacturers, remains uneditable even after some 13 years on the market rather blows my mind. But a tiny head with built-in tuner and comp and which fits in a gig-bag pocket would be handy for those rare occasions I need more than just a little combo. I've been very tempted to write it off because of what to me is a glaring omission of functionality, but convenience is increasingly my primary concern as time goes on- even if it does mean having no idea what parameters are being affected by the single-dial operation. Thanks for checking, 42. 1 Quote

Thanks for checking, 42. Well, a MK2 edition would be most welcome, take what they've learned with the Plethora and apply it but unfortunately they haven't. Smells of resting on laurels to me - because the functionality it has would have been genuinely impressive 13 years ago. I still appreciate it for what it is, it's still super handy, and the Spectracomp in default guise is very useable. The Spectracomp Toneprint in the BH amp is the main reason I got a standalone Spectracomp for my pedalboard. Quote
42Hz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 4 hours ago, Jus Lukin said: Thanks again 42hz! You're welcome. There are some good sounding basic toneprints there, among the lot. I use overdrive compression and octave. Even if the BH has two toneprint slot you can use only one at a time. Some of the toneprints available are combined tone prints - e.g. OD and compression. This may compensate for that, if you find a combined toneprint that suits your need. I would have appreciated the ability to edit the tone prints as well. Re the laurel-resting mentioned by neepheid I have the impression that the development og the effectmotor using the toneprint stopped when the company was sold. Which is a pity as many of the basic effects are actually quite good. I am not a fan of any of the artist toneprints and I am not a fan of the over-the-top self appraisal babble in the app but apart from that. Besides the BH I have a BG combo which essentially has the same features. Quote
