2001 Fender Geddy Lee Jazz - *SOLD*
Ā£750

Bought very recently on the forum, gigged on Sunday (pic attached) and its just too heavy for my neck/back - had significant discomfort after the gig even though its only about 9 pounds. My other basses are c.8 pounds or less and that is what I will have to stick to going forward as my neck condition is not going to improve.

Ā

Robert's ad below sets out the details - its one of the first Japanese runs - stub of neck dates it to 2001 - and with some upgrades (eg noiseless pickups). The negatives for full disclosure are that the Hipshot A tuner has a bit of play (it holds tune and works but the first bit of a turn does nothing; worked fine for me at gig but can be replaced at about £30 if it bothers you) and it was routed for a battery pack at the rear (at one stage it had a John East preamp, its now all passive again), not that anyone would ever see this. I have swapped out white scratchplate (which I still have) for a black one, so you have the choice. What else? Wearing new DR Pure Blues 40-100 nickel rounds and comes with 90s style Fender hard case.

Ā

Usual gen from me - delivery by economy courier for £20 on top or collect in safe public space near me in Barnes, London SW13 (usually Barnes station car park).

Ā

Passing on at the price I paid which is a bargain

I've had questions about the noiseless pickups. They are the DiMarzio Ultra Jazz DP149 set (the individual.pickups are coded DP147 [neck] and DP148 [bridge]). Found a video of someone playing these in a Geddy so you can hear the sounds:

Am heartily fed up of eBay tyre kickers with 78 questions/requests who then disappear ....

Ā

So to keep this in BC community, £50 price cut to £700 (plus 24 or 48 hour economy delivery at cost - £15/20 or thereabouts).

Ā

PS. The DiMarzio Ultra Jazz noiseless pickups alone cost £150 a set ...

I would accept a discount to my advertised price if I get to keep the near new DR Pure Blues strings on it and swap for another older set (eg, I have some DR coated nickels 'Dragon Skins' 40-100). How does £650 plus post at cost (c.£15/20) sound?

No trades, sorry

Black blocks and binding…. lovely.

Ā

I had an early one of these Japanese made basses, it had such a slim neck - a joy to play.

Ā

This is a fantastic price, shame I’m so into Precisions now.Ā

Bump with latest eBay tyre kicker story:

Ā

EBayer: Hey,why is the chrome neck cover plate upside down?

Ā

Me: I tweaked the truss rod to get action super low and accidentally reinstalled the cover plate upside down. Would you like me to reverse it and send you a picture?

Ā

EBayer: Yes please (thumbs up emoji)

Ā

Me (15 minutes later): voila (with attached a couple of pics of correctly installed cover plate)

Ā

.... no replyĀ

Bargain

I think so too. It's £500 less than a new Mex Geddy and has upgraded noiseless pickups plus (I think) an even slimmer neck profile. Yes, some mods but the battery box is invisible to the audience!

Ā

That said, the various BassChat FS fora are full of what appear to be absolute bargains that would have sold in minutes only a few years ago. Tough time to be selling
