rwillett Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hi I'm just finishing off my Jazz parts, Fender Jazz neck, Hipshot tuners, Bareknuckle pickups, John East Preamp and a lovely body from a luthier. Some of these bits came from @sifi2112, a true gent. Si painted the body in matt black and I really like the non gloss finish. It's really great contrasted with a white pickguard and chrome preamp. However I want to protect that matt finish. Looked up satin finishes on guitars and after wasting my time with ****'s on Reddit, I thought I'll come back and ask some sensible people here. Any suggestions what I can finish the body with but keep a subtle matt finish. Thanks Rob 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago As above if you want totally matt, I did my shell pink jazz in satin which is slightly more shiny but not as much as gloss, looks great rob Quote
rwillett Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago I missed one point out in my post. Many people stated that their matt finish became shiny after use so some.parts looked matt and some didn't. I was trying to avoid the shine. Also any particular brands of matt finish recommended? Thanks Rob Quote
Reggaebass Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago One tip I would add which was a big mistake I made, obviously spray in a well ventilated area but don’t do it outside, I sprayed mine and hung it up and millions of little bugs and flies stuck to it 😁, I had to re do it Quote
