Given the state of the canine breakfast the accent is on the SHOULD.

 

Any bets it won't disable the DI at the same time?

Capiche. Thank you. It would appear that a change of amp is required; I can't recommend one, though (I'm a drummer...).

I think MartinB has it - if you like the tone of the DI from the amp, just stick a plug in the headphone socket, as long as that doesn't also mute the DI. A very cheap technical fix.
