Serial 009474 so likely date of manufacture 1978/9?
40mm at nut, 20 frets, 4kg, spring spacing 19mm.

Strung with heavy flats.

A number of dings, the worst of which (by far) is indicated. The light blue is a reflection!

All original. All in working order including the truss rod. Very little fret wear. The neck is in super condition although there are a few marks on the headstock.
Unbelievable neck on these, as others on this forum have said.
Now with padded gig bag added. No trades.

Now £400 excluding all shipping.

These are excellent basses, I have a 79’ sunburst original and it simply sings!
if I had the funds I would have this one too …

Anyone out there who's looking for a 70's Precision without paying Fender prices, do yourself a favour and buy this. It's Yamaha (say no more), but also built like a tank, playable, toneful, and lovely to look at 👍

+1 to that, Chris...

I had the pleasure of meeting David at the weekend and having a play on this gorgeous Yamaha bass of his.

The neck is absolutely stunning - straight and true, and a joy to play on.

What's more, the bass sounds lovely too... Especially so because it's got a passive tone control that does what it's supposed to; you can get a nice bright and clear tone (think of the opening to The Eagles 'One of these Nights'), right through to that phat, rounded Motown tone with just a quick twist of the tone knob. Gorgeous!

But the thing that surprised me most about this bass is how lightweight it is - which is quite something for an Ash body..

Anyway, suffice to say, it's an absolute bargain as you said Chris.

Proper 'old skool' P Bass goodness and quality, for not much money at all when compared to vintage Fenders of the same era.

GLWTS David 👍😊

I second what martin has described In terms of tone. I’ve the same bass. Mine made in 78 strung with chromes. Sustain is great also. The profile of neck is copied from the late 70’s fender precision (ash body maple fretboard) so is a profile B. Very comfortable to play. It’s so articulate for a Pbass. Sometimes a pbass with tone down can sound muddy and bassy but this bass is bassy and articulate. Chords sound beautiful on these. If a funk machine lol

Bargain of a price as they are worth more. I got offered more than this for mine when someone played it.

GLTWS.
