Music Man’s NAMM announcements include the Custom Design Experience, coming in the spring:

”The all-new Ernie Ball Music Man Custom Design Experience will allow customers to design and build unique StingRay Bass guitars in both right and left-handed and 4-string and 5-string configurations.”

Sounds like the Fender Mod Shop for EBMM instruments. Deep pockets required, I expect!

Yup, expect it will be a LOT more than the Fender mod shop. Still, I could get a P bass with some non standard options for less than £2k on the mod shop so when you compare that to shop prices for the standard gear it's not too bad. Ernie Balls will be £4-5k I reckon, though.

Sounds promising, but yes, will probably be very expensive. And it remains to be seen if all these options mentioned will be available to lefties! Ever since the release of the Stingray Special replacing the old Stingray, there have been very few lefties (and no lefty 5-strings).
