Using a powered speaker with an Ampeg SGT-DI - Is this even possible?

Hi fellow bottom enders. I have a question I hope you can help me with. I'm selling my SVT Classic and 4 x 10 HE. I'm sad to see it go but a) it's too big for my needs b) my back isn't as good as to was 20 years ago (and it weren't great then). My current thinking was to get a Barefaced cab (played through one recently at a gig and it blew my mind - what a cab) and something like a SVT 7 as the amp. However, I am also going to upgrade my ESB micro-bass 3 with and Ampeg SGT-DI for home studio recording and playig in-ears. My question is this - rather than buy an amp and speaker, could I buy a powered speaker and use the SGT-DI as the preamp  to shape the tone (the only non-negotiable for me is I must have that Ampeg sound coming out of the speaker as I just feel lost any time I gig through a non-Ampeg set-up). If this set-up would work then does anyone have any recommendations on what powered speaker to use (for the last few years the majority of the gigs I have done have been through a Ampeg BA 210 so I'm used to having 450 watts on a Class D. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly received. Thank you. Mark
