BassAdder60
Anyone using DR Hi Beams 45-105 on a PBass ? Or 45-100 Lo Riders ? Im tuned 1/2 step down so I’m hoping they work well ( normally use Fender Nickel Plated rounds ) Seeking a brighter sounding string for finger style rock Edited May 1, 2023 by BassAdder60
EBS_freak
Lo riders stainless will give you the hi beam sound zingy sound but will have higher tension when you drop the tuning.

This is my string of choice in Eb on a Jazz bass played mainly with a pick - perfect tension for me, quite a low action and no fret rattle. A great rock / punk tone.

Gwilym
I doubt there will be hardly any noticeable difference in tension when tuning up or down by a semi-tone. I would go with hi beams unless you prefer the feel of a stiffer string.

They are hex core so stiffer tension so it may help tuning to Eb Youre right though as I tune down standard 45-100 nickel wound Fender strings without issue. BassAdder60
Ok Hi Beams and Lo Riders 45-100 arrived Popped the Hi Beams on and didn’t like them !! I guess I’m a Nickel Roundwound lover as I popped my Fender Vintage Nickel back on and it’s more my sound So I’ve got a 1 day old set of Hi Beams ( cut for a PBass ) 45-100 see classifieds on here Edited May 5, 2023 by BassAdder60
